Just discovering OpenStreetMap. This is a cycle-centric view of Milwaukee. This is the world that car drivers (as I was) totally miss knowing about: lots of special, quiet, non-congested routes available that get you places just as fast with less stress. #cycling #milwaukee #openstreetmap

A hearty thank-you to my friend @barnibu@birdbutt.com for graciously donating hours of help on Saturday with my coding project. It was a significant stretch of my mental muscles & I couldn't have done it without him.
I had factual bird work this week, preparing for surgeries on canvasback ducks next week. But I did some more writing last night. I'm on final few chapters of The Bonding & wish I could talk about it, but you'll just have to wait a bit longer. The Bonding's Eve Ball is turning out to be lots of fun!
Reminded of this this morning. So many things this could be applied to these days.
Yay! Got accepted to Furry Migration Dealers Den this year. See you there September 11-13. I also applied for a party pad, but regardless, we'll host some bird flocking somewhere. I'm also applying to do some bird panels too.

I made some needed upgrades to the Cooputer (runs heating, cooling, & door on chicken coop) over the weekend. It looks up local civil twilight times from NOAA API instead of calculating, which proved inaccurate. Also added more commands, more feedback on the web interface, & a reboot option. #chickens #diy #microcontroller

The business world is crafted to make any indie/DIY online business task frustratingly near-impossible. I'm very stubborn though. Setting up in-app USPS API shipping, for example. Yeah, I could use third-party, but f*ck those money-skimming data whores. 2 mos. of bureaucracy & I'm almost there. I've been pretty busy with real-world bird work lately, but here's a quick update until I can post more. Great stuff going on! ^v^
Progress stalled for a bit on The Bonding: Book Two of the Avian Age, but I'm moving forward again. I've found that if I kick my ass out of the house down to a local coffee shop, I'm a lot more productive. It's not even domestic distractions, but all the other creative & business projects that beckon. Today I had some fun with more interactions between Kor, Mano, Nyx, and Sashya plus a gala involving the President of Volatus. She's a good egg and brings good times and good news.
I wonder how many workers & customers could have been better supported if the money blown on AI was used for people instead. And now instead we have products that frustrate us & collect even more data & a building tidal wave of social issues that AI companies want to profit from. It’ll be yet another cost for society for years to come.

I make outlines for chapters and scenes in my books, but then end up going off script a lot. I feel like I spend a lot of time updating them to the point of wondering if it's really helping. Anybody else have the dilemma or is it just me? OTOH, my wiki helps TONS to document worldbuilding details.

Today on ulcer-inducing Odoo adventures: Poor documentation and conflicting community reports forces 2h of fucking around to realize a specific config file variable must be surrounded by regex punctuation to be validly obeyed. Meanwhile websites are hosed while you fuck with it. For someone barely able to navigate Linux, it feels like a combat jump into Mordor with nothing but a crumbling map written in Elvish.
In the time it took to go through Hyatt's goofy 2FA-email system, IFC rooms sold out. So much for getting a room if you're working/busy right when the block opens I guess.

@colinstu@birdbutt.com Some friends helped me figure this out. You can go into the Settings>Power Saving and toggle off all the annoying categories of objects, then slide the power saving threshold to max (on all the time).
