The wife's work was throwing out a defective bluetooth barcode scanner. It wouldn't charge. (USB-C). She brought it home (with permission) to see if maybe I wanted to try to fix it.
After cleaning the dust and lint out of the USB connector and replacing the battery, it works again.
I think I'll be adding it to my toolbox for when I'm working on things that need to be inventoried.

My "Works on all bands 40 to 6m" antenna doesn't... At least not well.
This is my solution. I fabricated a copper bracket to mount 40m and 20m hamsticks and a Wilson 5000 (tuned for 10m) so I don't have to play the quick disconnect game when I want to switch bands.
This week was a bit of a clusterfuck.
I still got paid to work, so that's a good thing, but a clusterfuck nonetheless.
Customer wanted fiber run from one building to an outbuilding. They had conduit all laid out and buried, pullstrings, that was all set. The path between the main datacenter in the main building and the MDU in the outbuilding was easy enough.
Problem is, #Arista (who is going to be providing their switches when they do their network upgrade here soon) told them they needed to use single-mode fiber "for future-proofing"... Problem is, the run was less than 600 feet.
Wednesday we laid out the single-mode fiber and ran it between the buildings, only to find out the customer didn't have any single mode SFPs to plug into their switches... So they ordered some and asked if I could come back Monday...
Thursday I get a call from my boss letting me know that I'm going back Friday (today) to run multi-mode along side the single-mode I've put in already... .and terminate it at both ends.
Got all 600 feet of it run, terminated the fiber ends, and cut over to the new link.
Now they can finish remodeling the outbuilding, put a roof on it, etc, etc, etc, and take the old aerial drop down.
In a few weeks I'm going back to run copper to all the workstations in the building. At that time I get to re-terminate the fiber in that MDF.. because I had to make this one TEMPORARY.. because the cabinet/rack they had in that room was only 12" deep. I'll be hanging a new, 24" deep cabinet, installing a proper LIU, and performing all the cable management necessary to make it beautiful and functional.
The single-mode is still there. Maybe they'll use it in the future for extension to a further building, but it's going to go un-used now... It was installed for naught... but at least I got paid to do what the customer wanted.

Ouch.
For $14 (for two eggs, toast, and bacon) I'll cook it myself.. and buy earplugs to drown out the sound of my wife screaming, "THIS IS MY KITCHEN! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE IN HERE!"
It might be too soon for this, but....
The news is reporting that Chuck Norris died. This is a lie. Death retired, so Chuck had to take over.
I received a thatching machine for Xmas for my lawn.
I think I'm going to name it "Margaret".
Happy #RevenantJesusDay to those who celebrate.
Mad tooth bar chin-up, box zing outta her hair now!

Mastodon server upgraded - check.
New CPUs installed in the server that's crashing due to machine check issues on CPU 1 - check.
Migrated non-critical, yet CPU intensive, workloads to said server - check.
Playing the waiting game to see if it decides to crash again - in progress.
In other news, the IC706 I had in the work truck is in drastic need of a tune-up/full alignment/etc....
Low power output on 40m, SWR pegs to infinity, even though the antenna system shows a decent SWR on the same band. Extremely low power output on 20m and 10m, but SWR reads correct.
Anyone know of a good, reputable, fair repair shop that can do the alignment and repair what's broken?
The rig is 25 years old, and has about 2 million miles on it between my POV and the Semi truck. It's been a great rig, it just needs some help.
Looking for recommendations on repair shops.
I don't care for this author's tone and snark, but they make some salient points...
This senseless hatred needs to stop, on both sides.
