@SuperMoosie@mastodon.au @az@scorpinc.social I thought your comment was half-baked, but no you're entirely correct. They're literally dismantling all of NASA to, and this is a quote from the funding request: "to beat China"

@sheepfilms@mastodon.social what absolutely impressive editing for such a small, silly joke

@warandpeas i didn't even know there were 110k people out here! Woo!

@GeePawHill@mastodon.social your writing is so engaging, I had a lot of fun reading it. Thank you for sharing! Anywhere else you put up your writings?

@tao I really like the "freedom to fail is freedom to ask dumb questions" perspective. An off-kilter question. I am curious about your take on the ethics of ai generated images (as the training data contains copyrighted material). Also is citing chatgpt enough? An equivalent issue is this: I remember in school that we were told not to cite it as "Google Images" but rather the website Google was pulling the image from.

@JimPropp@mathstodon.xyz gosh, the sheer confidence propping up this ignorance. Your response is so measured for what seems to be a blatant disregard for research. Experts exist for a reason.

@abucci @timnitGebru oh I see. Thanks for explanation, didn't know that. Will keep that in mind reading it

@abucci @timnitGebru lol idk why you're facepalming. Marvin Minsky is one of the fathers of the field of AI. Let a guy be optimistic, if wrong. It's easy to mock people in hindsight, please be nice.

@chalkdustmag I'd love to contribute! How do I get in touch?

@masonporter @tao honestly. I don't think in-person exams are a result of AI, whereas it was the lack of in-person that's a relic of covid era. Plus, it's worse than *any* non in-person assessment has been affected by AI. So the classical homework is also threatened.

@tao whoa I am really curious about these metaprogramming techniques. Is there a simple example?

@abucci @timnitGebru that's pretty cool! Definitely you'd know better then. Then why the facepalm?

@ruuddotorg@hachyderm.io @wehpudicabok@kind.social no Ss and Zs or Ts?

@TonyVladusich@mathstodon.xyz @tao@mathstodon.xyz yeah, isn't Lex a known grifter?

@robinhouston@mathstodon.xyz is that a chessboard coloring proof?

@janl@narrativ.es LOL I knew it would be something this guy says. Peak fav character

@mrtoto@social.mrtoto.net @janl@narrativ.es @kriesse@mastodon.social I had never seen star wars! But watched Andor with a bunch of friends, and it was a blast. It's gritty and honestly too real.

@realtegan@wandering.shop I'd love some follow recommendations!
