I recently had a service call with the provider of the web-based timesheet program we use at work. It would randomly jumble the days of the month or put me in a wrong time zone.
After some back and forth they said that I shouldn't use LibreWolf, but rather stick with Edge or Chrome. They said that they designed for Chromium and other browsers apparently don't handle their [insert tech babble here] correctly.
I'm tempted to answer that I'll just wait until they fix their POS web page and call me back.
This whole "web site is trying to mimic a proper piece of desktop software" has become so utterly tedious.

Btw: I'm using LibreWolf to separate web tools from my normal Firefox and to keep their Web page from accessing my local machine as good as I can.

Also, I really start to hate software. Give me a proper paper time sheet, and I'll save about half an hour of work time every day.

Edit: Ducking autocorrect.

This one I keep as a constant reminder not to lend my tools.
It was abused to remove plaster. Twice.
Next week I should see to get a replacement. It looks like you can finally buy Wera again at DIY stores.

Yes, it's April 1st.
But if you want to play the game (not the one you just lost) ask yourself one question:
"Would this be funny tomorrow or overmorrow*, too?"
If not: Stop it.
If your answer is a resounding "YES!", still stop it and seek help.

Sweet!
Flare Audio (FlareAudio.com) finally equipped their #Calmer filters with an additional 10 dB attenuation.
I'm not sure if I ever suggested that addition, but it is a thing I wanted.
I'm definitely looking forward to testing these next time I have to be among people.

Good job, Loctite!
*SlowClap*
Has been sitting on the shelf for a couple of weeks. Now that I needed it, it has fully cured inside.
Had to resort to the CA glue that my MIL has. It still works after months (or years?) of storage. UHU brand, by the way.

On a side note: we had an electrician over for a couple of new cables and a subdistribution board.
When I opened it to label the cables, I noticed that he hadn't done any of the safety testing.

While doing the testing, I checked connections and ended up redoing most of them.
I'm not sure what's going on with that. No planning, no documentation, no testing. He didnt even have a multimeter with him.
And people are wondering why their houses catch on fire. 🤔
I'm glad I opted to do the wiring for lights and socket outlets myself. It'll be a lot of work but I'll know it'll be good to go.

@electron_greg@oldbytes.space My best guess would be an additional video port, maybe composite. The question is: Future expansion? Or regional option, like NTSC composite?

By the way, it's the basement. I don't care about looks (beyond a certain tidiness) but rather for accessibility and future modification. And also readability: I want future me (or random electricians) to be able to read the installation without having to remove covers or pull wires. Not a big deal in the examples, but it will be a big thing in the rest of the installation.

Dealing with old electrics is kind of interesting. Some of the old stuff is this red wire with translucent insulation. I have never seen this stuff. I doubt that it is silicone insulation. It should be PVC or maybe an intermediate step between textile-based insulation and PVC. Does anyone know this stuff? Austria, probably mid-50s, maybe replaced in the 70s.

Undo one step to do three new ones. Old wires are out (plain PVC by the looks of it), new wires are in without any drama, and I have a motion sensor ready to install. This is my favourite step. 😁

@Laberpferd@sueden.social I've never seen the transparent stuff until silicone came along. As for testing, the plan is to replace it with modern wires. I can send you the old stuff for testing. 😉

@stereo4x4@techhub.social From my experience: Don't do everything yourself. But hire an industrial electrician if you can, preferably from a power plant setting. Those guys have always been tidy as can be. Pricey, yes, but worth the money. Domestic electricians often are worse than DIYers.
