It is a rounding error on the money this abusive crap earns them world wide. B) The good behavior ends in 10 years and is limited scope C) It has no effect on their monopoly status, bolstering sales actually. D) They walk away with "no wrong doing" on the court record. It resembles a bribe to the plaintiffs to STFU. 🤔

@josh@masto.byrd.ws To make a living as an economist, most have to be born to wealthy parents. Their lives are great and the cooked numbers look awesome. These people have never had to look at a price tag or do any real labor in their lives. The world is perfect in their eyes as it is today, and the numbers back it. And of course.... Wealth distribution has no affect on the world according to their best theories, and is not worth researching.

@riley I love this post, very thought provoking. As a native English speaker I have never once conceived of the idiom about broken clocks meaning what you say though, regarding gaining knowledge. In my experience it is used to mean someone/thing is sometimes right, but not from any action they took, rather through luck, error, whatever. They are the broken clock. I love your take though and the point as a whole.

We immediately craved prequels from the start, for decades (which we got even if a bit disappointing). But for casual users, soliciting money on a tool like mastodon is a free lunch ticket for scammers who game systems. I appreciate people want to help Gazans, but more harmful for the cause are the professional scammers who pretend to be Gazans and divert much needed money. Mastodon isn't designed for this, IMHO fundraising needs to be reputation based with banking integration.

@jik It's worth remembering that Signal Messenger is not designed to help us get away with crime. I see its key purpose being to force law enforcement to follow the law, and get warrants before searching property. Secondarily it also inhibits the surveillance abilities of filthy corporations who don't deserve to have data about us. I don't condone Apple's design choice here to keep notifications forever, but anyone who thinks Apple has our interests in mind are cult followers.
