thanks to @Bri@fwoof.space we now have a permanent link for the Grizzly Gulch Application rough Windows 11 build.
This will be a lot better than dropbox.
Well everybody, I now at long last present my program chronicle on GitHub with proper Windows and Mac app downloads which you will find in the assets section.
A couple of things.
Google Gemini is still the best at the moment for dealing with really difficult documents.
Claude will only work if you have paid for access to the API.
GPT is strictly a fallback option because it's the weakest of all of them.
Think of this program as a really clever tool that can fix documents that standard OCR programs just make a complete massive.
Go through the read me documents because it will tell you more that I can possibly put in this post.
Here is the GitHub link:

This program has cost me a significant amount of money and time so any donation would be so helpful to me.
This is the PayPal link

Eventually I'm going to set up a proper website and actually charge licensing fees to use the Chronicle app especially for libraries and things.
Right now this is just purely for testing.
Please share it around.
Play with it, test it, break it and let me know what you think.

I have just released Chronicle 1.0.3.
This release adds Chronicle's first dedicated preset for comics, manga, and graphic novels, and tightens cleanup for dense magazine-style PDFs.
New `Comics / Manga / Graphic Novels` preset for panel-based visual storytelling.
- Better accessible reading output for speech balloons, thought balloons, captions, visible sound effects, textless panels, and page-level art descriptions.
- Conservative support for manga reading flow, including right-to-left order when the page visibly calls for it.
- Comic PDFs now use one-page slices by default so page art, panel order, and visual context stay together.
- The comic preset stays on Chronicle's deep reading engine by default for stronger visual reasoning.
- New comic-specific quality checks require panel headings, image descriptions, non-empty panel sections, clean semantic wrapping, and no structural wrapper/fence regressions.

Does anyone know how to submit an app to applevis? Do you just do it through the forum? I want to show off this little program that I've created.
Should I write the entry in HTML code? I'm thinking it might be nice structurally.
Goddamn the Audio is great quality from inside the Orion spacecraft talking to NBC on the ground.
The astronauts from the 70s must be blown away.
Chronicle v1.8.0 is officially live! 🚀 i have introduced automated update scripts for macOS and Windows, making dependency management and updates completely hands-off.
Built natively for #Accessibility with VoiceOver, NVDA, and JAWS, ensuring complex historical archives and multi-column formats are perfectly structured for screen readers.

Throughout the war in Iran, I have been recording an international anti-Iran regime station and an army station from Israel.
I can't understand what any of them are saying but I feel like I need to record it because I love to capture as much Audio history of what’s going on as I possibly can.
Listening to Hebrew, it sounds like a really difficult language because there are so many different sounds when they're pronouncing words but you just don’t get in English.
It kind of reminds me of Arabic but it's really different at the same time.
I want to make a Gmail account for the Chronicle software I’m making.
I’m assuming this could be done? It doesn’t really have a last name or anything like that but I think I have to make a Google account for it which is silly to me.
Anyone remember the old Audio game for Windows called grizzly gulch? I used to find this very addictive when I was a kid especially in the casino, I wanted to play it again but it would not launch on Windows 11.
This was still the case until I brought Codex in.
Codex made three crucial changes:
First, we changed the packaging. Instead of using the original installers, which were hostile to Windows 11, we created a clean portable folder from the actual game files.
Second, we changed the versioning. The disc had two versions of the game: the original release from April 3, 2000, and a newer version compiled on March 10, 2004. We kept the original assets but replaced the older executable with the newer one.
Third, we changed the asset paths. The extracted files were in a folder named `Sound_Files`, but the executable was hardcoded to look for audio under `Sounds/*.wav`. This mismatch caused the game to start and then silently die. We added the correct `Sounds` directory layout, which resolved the issue.
A few important notes from the audit:
- The game is a 32-bit Win32 app, so it’s not too old in the 16-bit sense.
- It still depends on old VC6-era runtimes like `MFC42.DLL` and `MSVCIRT.dll`, so those remain the main compatibility risk on other Windows 11 machines.
@JonathanMosen@caneandable.social thanks to AI I’ve even built my own computer program. It basically takes a really broken OCR scan and cleans it up, it uses people’s API keys to Connect to things like Google Gemini.
I made it because I wanted to read my great grandfather's unit war diaries from the first world war and standard OCR just wouldn't do anything with them.
Then I wanted to read old newspapers and everything else so it's just taken off into this big thing.
I've called a Chronicle.
I had a couple of people asking where the donation links were on the page for Chronicle so I've updated the files to make it a bit more prevalent.
I really hope some people are testing this program, using it, finding any difficulties or indeed loving it.
You will find this program shines for old newspapers and legal documents and a whole bunch of other things.
Please take a look. Tell everyone about it.

What I'm basically doing with Chronicle is not a glorified optical character recognition engine with a bit of AI thrown in, what I'm basically trying to build and I know this will sound so I'm very sorry, I'm trying to build the nearest thing to a human eye looking at a page.
I know that sounds really strange when you read it.
I'm rigourously testing to make sure that this thing can actually make documents readable, not just pick up the text and dump it there.
Hours of testing, rebuilding, testing again, crashing, rebuilding, crashing again, realising something is shit or is not working right and having to reconstruct it but I'm enjoying it and despite the fact that I'm not actually creating the code manually, I have learnt so much about how things work and how one tiny little error in a code block can kill an entire program.
@JonathanMosen@caneandable.social you know you’ve seriously got me addicted to this lemonade stand game on the emulator now.
I didn’t think I would but I did about 30 days worth and made about 30 bucks.
What I can't remember how to actually save the game so you're not having to start again.
