Andrew Lewis Workshop
This is the home of Andrew Lewis Workshop. Signs, mugs, and other novelty items with a geeky theme. This account is mostly workshop related, with discussions and advertising of my own products.
There's a 25% discount on signs all this weekend at http://www.lewis-workshop.com.
Just thought it's worth mentioning. Hopefully there's a few Fuchsgiven.
As you were, carry on.
It's not even 8:30 and I've already had enough for today.
Not a proper focaccia, but deliciously rich, warm, springy, and chewy. Seasoned with rosemary and sun dried tomato. Served with a mixture of olive oil, aged balsamic, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper.
I'm not sure if it's an age thing or a planet being fucked thing, but all I really want to do is plant vegetables and fruit trees, and feed the chickens.
Monty and Klank have been part of Lewis Workshop since the very beginning in 2D and more recently in 3D. Today we welcome Lumpy the Unicorn into the fold, with a hammer, a pair of dungarees, and a built-in bradawl.
Chinese Fakeaway tonight. Sweet and sour chicken balls in batter, beef with ginger, and egg fried rice. Just enough left over for my dinner tomorrow.
In case you hadn't figured it out, I intend to be the Albert Finney "Big Fish" type of old person who has endless ridiculous stories to dispense at irregular and probably inappropriate times. Like the time I ended up snowed in to a nightclub with Phil Tippet and Nancy Cartwright.
I have fixed the shower. Hail me, conquer of pipes.
Cheers, chickens. Maybe it's quiche time tonight.
I planned on making burgers with fries and salad tonight, but the small people decided on bread and butter with whole carrots and salad when they saw the fresh bread.
18 hour no-kneed dough, moderate hydration, 1/4 wholemeal flour, nice and light with a soft, chewy texture.
Rogan Josh, Pilau rice, and basmati rice. I used to make a separate, milder curry for our 2 year old and 6 year old. They consistently ignored it and stole bits of our curry instead. Now we all just have the same. It amuses me to watch her chomping on a regular curry and naan bread like she's on a night out.
sometimes I'm preparing for a big show and it strikes me that I'm standing in a room full of robots that are all doing things for me, and it's absolutely nuts.
Last few hours of the http://lewis-workshop.com sale... Save 25 percent and get to feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
I'm always fascinated by people's acceptance of coffee - specifically when I see people who say "I can't do X until I've had my coffee" and they genuinely mean that they can't function properly without it. I always think that if caffeine was in a pill and someone claimed they needed it to function, lots of alarm bells would be ringing.
I'm not saying people shouldn't drink coffee, I'm just saying it's *weird* how saying "I'm addicted to this" is fine if comes with steamed milk.
I am at the "keep an eye on which machines you're using unless you want to trip the breaker" stage of manufacturing.
And so, this year as every year, the carnival of instagram and facebook posts with "I can't believe I planted all of these things out too early and a frost has killed them" begins.
One thing I didn't realise about CPAP is all of the "extra" stuff I have to do. In addition to the expected wash the mask daily and wash the straps weekly, I need to spend extra time cleaning teeth and using mouthwash because the drying effect of the machine can damage enamel. Also, I need a constant supply of distilled water to humidify the incoming air, more regular shaves to maintain a good mask seal, chap stick and moisturiser because the mask dries the skin.
I am a such a delicate flower.
The small humans are at nursery and school, and Caroline is sleeping. I'm effectively alone in the house as long as I'm quiet. Haven't got out to the workshop yet, there's still tidying, baking, and cleaning to do first, then regular chores like bins and so forth, and looking after the seedlings. I can't vacuum today though, because of the noise.
"unemployment has fallen!"
Probably because everyone's just given up and stopped actively looking for work. The constant agency promo bullshit, the jobs that don't really exist, the meaningless forms, unrealistic experience requirements for low paid jobs, silent rejections, interviews with people who have no idea what the job they're hiring for is actually about, and the automated filtering of your application based on AI or keyword analysis are just too much to bother with.
Planted some courgettes and multi-sowed some beetroot in the shed today. Why am I telling you this? Well, it's very simple... I forgot to write the date on the pot and I'm too lazy to go back out there, so I can always look up the date of this toot when I'm back in there with a pen.
I'm at the internal screaming stage of the process.
I'll just flick the news on and see what's been g...
I went to a club once in London, and there was a huge vaulted ceiling that graduated from concrete near the dance floor to an almost organic flesh texture at the apex with a giant, super realistic beating heart suspended from the top. There were even arcs of electricity shooting into it from some weird tesla coil contraptions on the wall around it.
I was super impressed by the whole effect, but then I realised someone had spiked my drink and I was hallucinating the whole thing. Well... 'Night.
Ok, well we're starting to get some real-world stalls booked for Lewis Workshop this year. I'll do a list when I've got some more confirmations. First up will be Makers Central.
Lunch and nap time, I think. Starting to get shed fever.
A friend of mine went to a music festival many years ago. I sent her a message to see how she was getting on. She sent one back three days later that said "oh god mushrooooom soooooup", and then I didn't hear from her for another 3 days. Good times. Good 'shrooms, apparently. She's an art teacher now.
Anyway.... The idle reminiscence will continue until morale improves.
Morning everyone.
Great news! My parcel from somewhere Chinese sounding has cleared customs and will be delivered this week! I wonder what it is and what company it's from? It's either going to be a small envelope or a box the size of a 3D printer. What will it be? Will it actually arrive at all? Will I finally be able to have a hot shower this week? Who knows. 🤷
Our shower is broken. The replacement part will take a week to get here. I have just had shower so cold that my testicles climbed up inside by body and tried to strangle me from the inside and you could shape a flint arrowhead on my tits.
I'm very tired, but still have work to do. I'm at the point where I might make a mistake if I'm not careful, so I'm going to stop soon. This sort of thing was much easier when I was 20.
Anyone coming to Maker's Central this weekend?
