"Florida stole my parents " from Refined Fool Brewing in Sarnia, Ontario close to the lake which unequivicably called Lake Ontario. First smell was of a new carpet shop, but pleasant orange hazy IPA, not super strong, easy drinking but not memorable. Great name though not sure why the parents would let themselves be stolen

"amid growing signs of unease among some Republicans in the U.S. Congress over Trump's trade tactics toward Canada, particularly as the Nov. 3 midterm elections grow nearer."
[CBC news]

Oh you mean they don't actually have an opinion or principles but are worried it may look bad for them ??

Jeez

If you've ever taken a stroll through Leiden, an adorable and ancient city in the Netherlands about 30 minutes by train south of Schiphol Airport; you may have seen poems and quotations like this one painted on the houses in the alleys and side streets. We'll have to take a bit of a detour to get to the origins of this initiative. Remember the Dutch art movement called "de Stijl" of Piet Mondrian fame? It was founded in 1917 by a number of artists and architects on the principle of "neo-plasticism"; best explained by Mondrian as "this new plastic idea will ignore the particulars of appearance, that is to say, natural form and colour. On the contrary, it should find its expression in the abstraction of form and colour, that is to say, in the straight line and the clearly defined primary colour". De Stijl was also the name of a journal – published by the Dutch painter, designer, writer, poet and critic Theo van Doesburg – that propagated the group's theories. Now we return to our main course. 1992 was the 75 year anniversary of the magazine "De Stijl", and to honour that, artist Ben Walenkamp suggested to showcase some of van Doesburg's poems publicly on local walls. This initiative expanded through collaboration with his friend and painter Jan-Willem Bruins as project "Dicht bij de Muur" and the foundation of the organization "Tegen-Beeld", and now at least 110 murals in some 30 languages. P.S. The Dutch are very very fond of word play, and "Tegen-Beeld" literally means "Counter-Image" and would be best translated as "counter-argument". "Dicht bij de Muur" would literally mean "close to the wall" but 'dicht' is also short for 'gedicht' meaning poem. Oh, those Dutch. Cafe Havana on Commercial - perfect place to watch the sun set over the city
Sadly the choice of beer is relatively limited but the margaritas fill the void

St. George's Anglican Church, Fort Langley. Built in 1901.

As writer Thomson Highway (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomson_Highway) said "There's a major fault in Western society. It makes room for only one god, and in only one gender. There's no balance, no co-existence, no partnership."

The history of intolerance speaks for itself. The Christian take-over of North America brought unimageable harm to the non-confirming.

The Canadian landscape is littered with these little emblems of worship.

"Permanent Astonishment: Growing Up in the Land of Snow and Sky" is Tomson's extravagant embrace of his younger brother's final words: Don't mourn me, be joyful. Let's choose beauty and joy. This is an adorably cute little building.

I have been somewhat on the fence about Dageraad the last few years. Love their "10 degree' but many of their others acquired a leaning towards a sour - which is not my thing. Fast forward to now: I tried their Anti-Goon which is an absolutely fantastic triple. Highly recommend. Juniper berry, apricot, hint of guava. Very smooth, no bite at all. https://dageraadbrewing.com/beers/antigoon/ #craftbeer #vancouvercraftbeer #vancouver @beersofmastodon@a.gup.pe

Antigoon | Dageraad Brewing

A giant in a can, Antigoon pours a pale golden colour with a towering head. Herbal hop notes and fruity yeast esters will hit your nose before the dry, crisp and deceptively light beer hits your palate. Antigoon will make you feel like you're just a hand's throw from Antwerp. Bronze - Belgian Strong Ale

Absolutely fantastic find- Golden Ale from Bridge Brewing in North Vancouver. Tingly laurel and speculaas and hoppy headiness, one of the best new beers in a while. To call is an Ale is the understatement of the year, nectar of the Gods would be closer. #craftbeer #northvancouver

Sint-gorikshallen, 1881, designed by architect Adolphe Vanderheggen. Almost lost in the '60s in the manic ambition to modernize , since 1987 declared a monument. Named after a possibly mythical st Gorik to whom a chapel was dedicated at this location in the 11th century. The chapel is replaced by a church in the 16th century which is subsequently demolished in 1796 in the fury of the French Revolution - cuz humans can't seem to leave things well alone. Lovely place with a number of vendors and an obelisk fountain in the middle. #belgium #brussels #architecture
