Oh thank god, I thought for a moment that Kurt Vonnegut wrote like a Tumblr user.

It would be easiest to get a complete ISO file and just burn that to a DVD of course, but barely anyone is dealing in ISOs these days, if they even exist at all. You can take regular MKV or MP4 files and structure them into a DVD format with DVD Styler. For a lot of anime at least, look for releases tagged Dual-Audio or Multi-Audio and find the one with the dubs you want. Subtitle tracks are a crapshoot, because they’re so small and easy to edit, so you have to look at descriptions to figure out which ones are included and from which sources (official, fansub). This is less of an issue for non-anime, you’ll usually get every sub track from the original source. You might have to use Handbrake or ffmpeg to get your MKV source files in a format that DVD Styler accepts. (I saw it doesn’t list MKV support, but it is just a container format for all the things it does list.)

Does it count as biohacking if you're trepanning your own forehead with a dentist drill? It won't let you sense magnetic fields, but it might allow ghosts to tickle your prefrontal cortex?

By the way, if anyone can find Heartbeat in the Brain, please let me know.

I think these are all gacha games? Or at least FGO, Azur Lane, Genshin, Honkai, Nikke, Blue Archive and Uma Musume are. I don't really recognize anything from the bottom section, except Heaven Burns Red, which is also a gacha game, so I guess "media" to this person means waifuslop designed to extract maximum value from lonely salarymen.

It's much easier to organize the workers under feudalism, because they'll be in the same places slaving away together under the same king. In cyberpunk, everyone lives in isolated pods and gets their news through the corpo networks. The few interactions they have with other people are in subcultures and gangs, but every other gang will be "an enemy" even though they're the same class. There's also no obvious "king" to rally against. Neuromancer has the Tessier-Ashpools, but they're smart enough to live in space and stay out of the public eye. Some corporations are more like sentient beings, where even the C-suite only live to serve the machine. Who's going to overthrow Hosaka when it provides millions with jobs and stability? And how? The only entity with the means and the motive would be another corp, which doesn't change the system so much as the name on a building.

I mean sure, but that’s true for most people’s homes. We don’t live in industrial cleanrooms.

Unironically. I’m sure Parks&Rec was a fun show, but did it fill convention centers around the world with hundreds of thousands fans? Did it kickstart the careers of animators, illustrators and musicians? There’s a couple more “children’s cartoons” that I’d put in the top 100 over some high-popularity-but-low-cultural-impact shows from this list. I think if you look at the current animation industry, all of them will name the same shows that inspired them as children and still influence their work to this day: Avatar: the Last Airbender (2005), Gravity Falls (2012), Adventure Time (2010), etc.

Insane list. Look at the IMDB Top 250 filtered by “after 2000” and you’ll notice the obvious omissions: Avatar: The Last Airbender at number 6 Attack on Titan at number 16 Firefly at number 39 Taskmaster at number 43 These are just a couple examples in different categories. Anime fans immediately noticed that no anime made the list at all, despite 10 being in the IMDB top 100. Western animation fans might have seen that Bojack Horseman made the list, but Avatar didn’t (or if the editor filtered for “adult animation”, Rick and Morty (#22) didn’t). There’s really no excuse for these, there is no consistent rule that would exclude any of these shows. NYT readers must live in the dark timeline where fun is outlawed and Taskmaster was cancelled after one series.
