I originally joined in Nov 22. Left in 25. Back again, as I missed so many of the people, determined to avoid all the bits that made it an unhappy experience last time so if I don't follow you back it may be for my own self protection. Happy to find nearly everyone still here

Someone has left a small bag of dried fruit and nuts sealed with an hare Krsna sticker in the honey honesty fridge🤔 I am torn between how sweet and how odd. We know no-one involved with that movement. Would you risk eating them?

Drat. Stuart just spoke to farmer and he wants them gone over winter. He said we could just move them further along but you can't do that, its 3 foot or 3 miles, nothing in between with bees. So thats 7 hives to resettle before it gets too cold #beekeeping

@aegir@toot.wales we can spread them about in any gaps in existing apiaries. Its a hard apiary to work in but always one of our most productive
Lizard up under a hive lid. Because we were early and he was on the shaded side he was fairly torpid so I got a couple of picture. Normally they freeze for a split second and then are gone in a flash of bronze #wildlife

Got through that quicker than anticipated. Some nice full supers to come off tomorrow. One hive may be queenless. We'll check again later in week

@Maker_of_Things@cupoftea.social that would have been silage. You'd really regret one of those bails landing on you, they are very heavy because they are damp, not like hay or straw. Not that you'd want them landing on you either! I hope your head clears soon
I have a really busy work schedule today extracting honey. Been awake since about 3.30 and so far I am not even dressed☹️

@Maker_of_Things@cupoftea.social grass is just wilted for a couple of days and then wrapped so its pretty wet still. Often smells really tasty, sweet, almost coconuty, and cattle seem to love it anyway

Not something you see very often. A hard bodied tick of some sort on a hive lid. Makes you glad your in wellies and covered from head to foot 😳 #wildlife

@aegir@toot.wales apiaties are very spread. We closed a few, because we're cutting back. Then lost a good one near home because landowner died. Now this one which is not too far, maybe 5 miles. 🤷♀️ land owners are getting old

@zahradie@mastodon.social neighbour shades the greenhouse. Its a bit of a catch 22 isn't it as they need the light and those also look quite heavy. I think shade would be better than covering but is hard. Mulch is the really good thing you can do to keep the moisture in the soil at the roots so any water they do have is available for as long as possible. I do cover things against frost though

Here I am letting it slowly drop in to the honey creamer which has 2 buckets, about 28kg, of honey in it. I am a bit worried the honey may be a bit dark to make good soft set, light honey sets better. 🤞🤞
Does anyone know of anywhere that some one who lives alone can go to recuperate after an operation for about a week in south Wales or maybe the Bristol area. Not a care home for the elderly, this person is not really elderly or usually infirmed. There does not seem to be such a place #Wales
