Not my first time hosting Christmas, but my first time hosting in a place with a dishwasher, and I did not realise how much more pleasant that would make the whole exercise, heh.

If people are looking for an decent client for here, I find Tusky a better experience on android than the official app.

Plus politics can't really be divorced from so many subjects - art, law, science - that it's really hard to know what one ought to CW and what one ought to.
Is there a primer to content warning/spoiler norms somewhere? Must admit some seem a little fussy at first glance but don't want to step on toes.

Not an excuse to ignore the norms of a space but I do think some space for discussion of what rules leads to shared values being achieved with minimal friction. Forgive the public law nerd for musing about rule-policy congruence and legislative design!
To add to the comment I made over on the bird site, absolutely devastating news overnight that Mimi Parker of Low died.
Just one of the most beautifully pure voices I've ever heard. Meant Low were a brilliant covers band, to; Parker's voice transformed even well known songs. Their version of Rihanna's stay is one of my favourite covers of all time.
@liamelphick@aus.social not you! Follow away.
Don't hear much talk about him these days, but the late Jason Molina (magnolia electric co; Songs: Ohia) really was a once of the unsung greats of the 00s indie scene. https://open.spotify.com/track/719aK5iQfj2tQInOlCdYtm?si=H7sNctElSLOVsPImWCZyUQ&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A37i9dQZEVXcTxL8Ea0X8fq

@64@mastodon.nz hmm I don't think I get to dictate terms at all, but I also wonder whether community norms change as the community grows/changes or if what mods say goes. I've seen both approaches in various communities, seen both work well and both work terribly.

@DrBex@mastodon.nz yeah I see that there and I guess I'm just wondering why. I can think of reasons why, obv, but not necessarily that those be community rules. As the post you linked said different instances have different norms; just trying to get the lay of the land of what .nz's is & why.
