Cognissart

The devil is in the detail with my work. Don't miss the opportunity to see these works up close at Belper Arts Trail, today and tomorrow 10.30am-4.30pm. Find me in St Peter's Church, Church Lane.

#WIPWednesday this week is framing 😊
I have completed my winter commission and the frame arrived last week. I hope to share full images soon but in the meantime zoom in to see the frosty twinkle in this teaser shot ❄️ I'm pleased with my mount choice as it perfectly sets off the snow

Here's that little autumnal woodland study I shared as a wip - tweaked, blocked and mounted. I haven't got frames for these yet but when I do they will be up for sale via my website.

My first Mastodon eyeball today! (If that's the correct phrase? That's what we used to say on CB radio)
@webidebi@mastodon.social came to Belper Arts Trail so we have now met IRL! I am ridiculously excited about this 🤣 A Mastodon first that I definitely want to repeat (I do realise the difficulty for those of you on different continents 😉)
I'm hopeless at selfies so I'll just share a pic of my stand during a brief lull between visitors - a great show! 👍

I think my commission may be finished. Again, it needs to sit on the back of the sofa for a bit. I'm not sharing the full image just yet, here is a teaser of a bit you haven't seen so far.

Another little piece I've been working on, Bluebells Study #1 . I have an exhibition later in the year entitled "Into the Woods" at the Woodland Discovery Centre in Ecclehall Woods, Sheffield. All the work on display will be woodland inspired and this is me making a start 😊

I wasn't happy with the framing of Emerald Summer in Ruby Wood - too heavy a frame and too dark mount. So I have re-framed it with a lighter, grey mount and a narrower moulding (more views here https://cognissart.co.uk/emerald-summer-in-ruby-wood ) I hope it works better now, I'll have it with me at Belper Arts Trail in 2 weeks time

A little one for #WIPWednesday Almost there, but needs a little tweaking and blocking. I am experimenting with small scale, less detailed and more abstracted images.

I'm happy with this now, blocked and stretched ready for framing. However I haven't got a name for it. It's an autumnal view of Sheepwash Bridge in Ashford in the Water, near Bakewell in Derbyshire. I usually have a play on words for my titles but I'm struggling for inspiration. Any ideas?

Before I forget! For #FirstFridayArtWalk with @DoomsdaysCW@kolektiva.social this month I give you "70s vibe" An abstract on recycled coffee sack inspired by childhood memories from the 70s. I find abstract a great way of visualising my #ADHD brain's random musings 🙃
Hopefully this will be on display, and for sale, at Derbyshire Emporium in Bakewell from tomorrow.

I'm deep in prep for #BelperArtsTrail now and have just framed 2 new mixed media artworks which will make their debut there. These gel prints on fabric with stitch embellishment are £70 each or £125 for the pair. Worth seeing IRL if you can make it to Belper 3 or 4 May

Just examining the "butt" of my current #wip and it reminds me of those little green and blue sweets which were seed shaped and felt like they were made of polystyrene 🤣 Another 70s flashback! Anyone else remember them?

Spent a pleasant day chopping up coffee sacks kindly donated to me by Buxton Coffee Roasters. I had an abstract urge and used a bag from our regular coffee order for a little study which I hope to frame tomorrow. Does anyone remember Issy Noho? #ChildOfTheSeventies 🤣
