@sunguramy@flipping.rocks I want to emphasize here, that the reason why we can diagnose 2/3rds of the cancers worldwide is because some researcher in astrophysics got a grant to figure what unreachable gas clouds were made of. No one can know what results will be useful. Some obscure mathematics thesis may solve all of our energy problems and the undergrad that published it may never even know. And it would not even be the first time.

@Rainmaker1973@zpravobot.news Oh my dear Great Paperclip, I went to look at the original and for every satellite trail you see here, there are 5 dimmer ones you can't see at that resolution Edit: Here you can find the original picture https://www.hq.eso.org/public/images/eso2607a/

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social the fact that these sorts of people steal names from Tolkien's legendarium drives me mad. People go and build the eye of sauron and start calling it by a heroic name

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social that is all an understatement when one looks at how Congo is burning. The situation here in France is bad, but I looked at satellite views of Congo and it is so much worse.

@VD15@pl.valkyrie.world another proof that when you make things available to people that need it, it makes life easier dr everyone

@alice@lgbtqia.space @farooqkz@mastodon.bsd.cafe While I agree, I think that it should be restricted to self owned business to avoid consent issues. I fear what an industrial society would do to sex workers. It should be regulated to protect sex workers from both dangerous customers and dangerous business practices.

@mo@mastodon.ml @stagerabbit@famichiki.jp @sundogplanets@mastodon.social Even that would pollute the atmosphere a lot. Starlink is now of major concern because so many of their satellites deorbit, and burn in the atmosphere, and the aluminium salts that produces have extreme greenhouse effect

@raysan5@mastodon.gamedev.place it's time you take a bloody nap Ramon

@entreprecariat if we live in a simulation, there is only a single ever administrator that could have the balls to include himself in the simulation

@silvermoon82 @eris2cats (x) /bin/tclsh

@Stellar@mk.absturztau.be Kronk! Elongate the ferrets

@libreleah BTW, it runs on hardware that I know you know quite well: a lenove t440p

@jessew very powerful combo with the spell "Balls of steel"

@natty@astolfo.social it is used to smuggle invalid things through the static analysis basically. I had to use it once

@Stellar@mk.absturztau.be Well, since I made something that can be considered an operating system and a bunch of country mandate either age verification and/or age registration at operating system level, and I am not implementing that, I revoked the licenses of people in those countries so that I cannot be sued or fined

@hyc@mastodon.social wait, do these dim-witted animals think that IEEE-754 has portability issues, or are they too daft to either no ship embedded databases over the network, or just if they really want to, to document which endianness their project uses?

@alice@lgbtqia.space that's why I use a bow, the kid safety is how hard it is to string for someone that is not knowledgeable and strong enough

@Stellar@mk.absturztau.be super yakuza Vegeta is not real and cannot hurt me

@cadey@pony.social I am very glad to hear that you are doing well. Get better and get back to slaying!

@ian@mastodon.radio well, I can at least tell you what you cannot do. Escape

@hyc@mastodon.social in erlang all the strings are immutable, but I don't think you can tell the GC not to touch them. One would need to modify the VM to adapt that in

@hazelnoot@enby.life Those will make a fine addition to the source code of my game engine, The compiler can have a bit of Claude-fuck-off, as a treat

@jessew@mk.cpluspatch.com love your outfit!

The word is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

@stag@mk.absturztau.be And I was thinking that the abomination I just wrote was... well an abomination. I am thoroughly reassured

@DoricDream@chitter.xyz is it better for you if I take it on itch or on steam?

I managed to grab 40 more milliseconds per run, for a x24 speed improvement in total

My clothing style has been described as both bisexual vibes and "10h30: business meeting, 11h30: survive the apocalypse" I deduce from this that none is more ready than a bisexual

@VANTABlack2000@mastodon.gamedev.place @DoricDream@chitter.xyz that's why I am asking, whether visibility or money is the most important for them right now is not something I want to guess. I also prefer drm free but I like success for indies more

@Stellar@mk.absturztau.be ye, it looks cool!

@ErikUden@mastodon.de Well, to be fair, that is how much it cost per post, not how much the influencers (my god I hate this word) were paid, but it is a ballpark figure

According to my benchmarks, ~~stealing~~ borrowing mint from Ned Flanders takes 5.88µs at most. In my logic engine that is

@CordiallyChloe@tech.lgbt @alice@lgbtqia.space I agree on principle, but I have to admit that my autistic brain really wants to interpret "all men" statements literally and that they make feminist statements very weird to me without reformulating them with the idea that "men" == "many men" /= "literally every man" Not taking things literally is hard

@lamb@transfem.social hey, making games is hard, when alone it is a lengthy grindstone of a process. Look at the guy that made Tunic, he took 8 years to make the game, and even years after making it, he is not recovered from the effort required. One of my friends is a bloody genius programmer, he worked for 6 years on his project with another person, only for the project to fail not financially or technically, but socially, because they could not handle differents in communication. When I say it is hard, I have seen it grind people I care for, friends, colleagues etc etc, to dust. Some where geniuses, some less, it does not really matter. Making video games is a consuming process. It is a terrifying endurance run. I have ADHD, making my game takes a lot out of me. It took friends, time, loves ones, finances... And it will likely take me more than it would take for an average person to figure out. To me that is depressing. I will probably die before I am done. But I will fight, so please fight too. If you need help please ask. And also, thanks. Thanks for the work you already put into what you are making

Mmmm, can it be fasterer?

Well, that's the gift that keeps on giving isn't it

@swick@hachyderm.io except there were cves related to memory safety in uutils as well

I may implement yet another programming language today. What a harrowing perspective!

Mmmh, it could, but I would need to fight my most dreaded enemy, the std::variant copy constructor

You have now achieved true enlightenment, you are now a JIRA ticket

@jessew@mk.cpluspatch.com I would not say that, but it is clearly not the worst, it is pretty good even
