Are there good examples of *accessible-first* #CSS frameworks, with common components/widgets? I'm looking for something that is well regarded by its users, and has enough installed base that it's not going to disappear overnight. This is intended for a possible replacement for a tailwind project, inside a #Phoenix #LiveView app. https://darekkay.com/blog/accessible-ui-frameworks/ already has a lot of links, I'll dig through them over the next few days. Bonus points if it doesn't come with an extraordinarily painful npm install & run process. #accessibility #a11y

Oh. Interessant. Das Wort "Zeichen" und das Verb "zeigen" scheinen in der DGS die gleiche Gebärde zu sein. #Phoenix

Wow this is a great development after the public here in the Phoenix area has been fighting back against a behemoth ICE detention center in nearby Surprise Arizona. It’s to handle up to 10,000 prisoners and the purchase of the warehouses was made secretly. This is just the estimates of water use estimated for only 1,500 prisoners! If the public is able to get documentation on water and other public utility use, it is one way We The People can fight back. #Water #WaterUse #WaterResources #PublicHealth #Phoenix #Arizona #Surprise #SurpriseAZ #ICE #Antifa https://northwestvalleyindivisible.org/surprise-just-sent-ice-the-water-bill-and-it-confirms-the-city-has-leverage/

Feminism isn't simply about being a woman in a position of power. It's battling systemic inequities; it's a social justice movement that believes sexism, racism and classism exist and interconnect, and that they should be consistently challenged. Well darn. After about 20 years of avoiding any purchase from Whole Foods, I actually just bought 4 things. I had always suspected this company of odd management and food the mix of products and pricing to be far higher than typical. I didn’t buy in to claims of pure wholesome and sometimes organic food. The marketing, prices, and almost cult following put me off. #WholeFoods FYI: this is a long read and a linked article. My gut instincts AND this recent analysis in the article meshed. Then yesterday I knew I needed a few things soon for planned meals. But I couldn’t leave to go shopping. (No caregivers for my son but myself and his brother means a 12 hour shift 6 a to 6 p). After all, he could have a seizure at any time day or night. Yesterday he had one at 5 an and then 10 a. (They are status and each requires rescue protocol.) So I decided maybe I should try out delivery of food from Amazon. (Yes, we have Prime membership for necessity. I hate this condition.) I needed to order $25 and would get free delivery this same day! What I did not know was inside Amazon there is “Amazon Food” and also “Whole Food”. My order was through both. Yes I got 2 deliveries 6 things driven here by 2 different drivers. Total was $28 spent. What a horrible carbon footprint! Oh darn, these items were such a low price, exactly what I wanted. Marveling at the irony of getting what I wanted versus horror at supporting Big Business and the worst forms of Big Capitalism. So, that’s my tiny story and now the the article by Worse on Purpose. Sigh. #Capitalism #Phoenix #Food #Amazonhttps://www.worseonpurpose.com/p/whole-foods-got-worse-on-purpose

When I was a kid, I lived in a rural area of #Montana. Rural by Montana standards. As I've gotten older, I've moved to bigger and bigger cities. First #Bozeman, then #Reno, now #Phoenix. I can see less and less stars with each move. Right now, I'm "vacationing" in rural Arizona, and I'm taking my time looking at the stars. In the 80s, seeing a satellite was an event. It almost never happened. Now, they litter the sky. I don't like where this is going.

First Phoenix dust storm of the season. Thank goodness we got a cellphone alert and got our home AC shut off in time. Solid “fog” of dirt here now until the wind blows it through. Then, may be a heckuva T-Storm also pushing up from Tucson. #Phoenix #Arizona #Maryvale #Haboob #DustStorm
