The mysterious Torwood Blue Pool near Denny. This circular brick structure is full of remarkably blue water and its origin and purpose continue to be debated, though it was probably an air shaft for a coal mine that closed in 1910. The intriguing Torwood Blue Pool, close to the Tappoch Broch which I posted about earlier. Hidden away in a wooded area just east of Denny, it's lined with bricks and waterproof clay, and is clearly manmade, but its exact origins remain unclear. It's about twenty feet in diametre and fifteen feet deep, and the water which fills it is pure blue. Beneath the surface on one side an arch leads to a tunnel which extends downward for an unknown distance. Cont./ #scotland #denny #torwoodbluepool
