#ExtremeHeat is cutting the time people can safely be active #outdoors Using #globalheat, #humidity and demographic data, scientists found that sweltry conditions now limit light physical activity for #adults ages 18 to 40 for about 50 hours a year, on average. That’s double what young adults faced from 1950 to 1979. Meanwhile, adults over 65 now experience an average of about 900 hours of activity-limiting conditions each year. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/extreme-heat-outdoor-activity-unsafe https://archive.ph/GTkYK

Perhaps my favourite post of all that I made in the years we lived there had this introduction: 28 November 2024 - Most Impressive Otter Visit Yet! It was a little early, for me, but I drew the curtains a little before 08:00 to see an #otter in the #lake below me. I managed to get one photograph of it before it swam round the decking and on out of sight behind the cottages. At around 09:30 it became clear there was a #family group still on site and I took a walk onto the island and round the back of the lake to discover there were two #adults and two #young at #playhttps://rustonhouse.org.uk/grounds/2024/241128otters.php #wildlife
