Ich selbst bin bei Friendica, weil das besser zu meinen Anforderungen passt (eingebaute Verbindung auch zu anderen Netzen wie Bluesky, Diaspora* oder Tumblr), aber dort eher pragmatisch. Es sollte irgendwie funktionieren.😊

Das ist eine der ... schwierigeren Ecken des Fediverse, technisch holprig, der Entwickler dahinter ein sehr ... spezieller Charakter und mittlerweile ... naja, ich wünsch jedem viel Spaß und Erfolg dort, halte aber Abstand, so gut und so weit es irgend geht.

Gewissensfrage an die Schwarm-Intelligenz: Wie lang nutzt Ihr Mobiltelefone, für die es keine Software-Updates gibt? Konkret: Ich bin mit einem Samsung M51 unterwegs, da drauf ist ein Android 12 aus 2024. Das Ding funktioniert auch nach 6(?) Jahren noch absolut tadellos, ist funktional in jeder Hinsicht völlig ausreichend und alles in mir sträubt sich gegen die Idee, ein Gerät in diesem Zustand auszutauschen. Zweitgerät brauch und will ich nicht, weder ein "neues" noch ein "altes. Auf dem Ding läuft im Wesentlichen Fotografie, Browser, K9Mail sowie 2FA für verschiedene Situationen und mein Sparkassen-Kram. LineageOS oder irgendein anderes, verlässlich und vertrauenswürdig supportetes Custom-ROM gibt's da grad auch nicht, nur jede Menge obskure Builds von irgendwelchen Leuten im Netz. Frage daher: Wie handhabt Ihr das? Sicherheit first und Gerät notfalls entsorgen, auch wenn's noch funktioniert? Nachhaltigkeit first und Gerät weiternutzen, bis es auseinanderfällt, Risiken bedarfsweise über Konfiguration am OS versuchen kleinzuhalten? Irgendwas anderes? Not a really big deal, just wanted to understand. On my own instance I briefly followed that followback account and it seems to work but sort of ... mixes up my hashtags (which are much more Tumblr-style "hash term groups" including whitespaces and all than Twitter-style short tags). Still, all in all, I'm ... quite torn about that feature. Also talking about the fact of, for using (n) hashtags, my post end up being pulled and redistributed (n) times, once per hashtag used. That feels quite like multiplying traffic in quite an ... interesting manner? Generally, I can't help agreeing with what @feb mentioned elsewhere in this thread: This is something that probably should be addressed in a different manner on a protocol level, requiring a bot per hashtag to boost posts and still not fully being near what might be expected behaviour (that, subscribing to a hashtag, I see /all/ the posts with that hashtag not just those that for whichever arcane reason happened to make it to my instance) feels like a first hack or approximation at besst. @AlienJay@burningboard.net

@openrisk Unfortunately too this original stack was quite exclusive, as it required a substantial amount of knowledge and resources for people to be part of that digital community. And so far we failed to keep these tools simple /and/ accessible to maybe even just that socially isolated neighbour who just owns an old Android smartphone and never even remotely heard about HTTP or LAMP. It's these users, humans that adopted big tech solutions because little of the non-big-tech tools works for them. And even to date, even taking a trivial protocol like Gemini, it's all the same again: Consumption is easy. Publishing is by far more difficult. Not even talking about communication, linking, ... .

Greatly recommended: phanpy.app/ Otherwise I'm (Friendica) mostly trying to keep accounts, people, topics sorted into channels so to be sure not to miss the "important" ones while knowing which one I might catch up on later, in the weekend or so.
