I have to be careful when admiring this plant, because if I stare at it too long I start feeling like I'm on the cusp of deciphering the runic writing inscribed across its leaves.

In a surprise upset, the Mammillaria pulled ahead and opened its flower before the Gymnocalycium!

Trying out a new configuration this morning. What if you put the head in the middle instead of at one of the ends?

Petunia still won't leave Sumie's belly, but now Vincent has joined the snuggles.

I normally spread the grey blanket over my actual comforter during the day to protect my bedding from the cats, but they've vetoed that option today.
During the night I keep the grey blanket folded up on my chair, which becomes a popular sleeping spot at night. This morning Sumie didn't want to vacate my chair, so I just lifted the whole blanket with her on it.

Lydia posed in some dramatic backlighting, which led to an accidental lens flare as I was taking photos.

Petunia loves her brothers.
Just the normal sort of sleeping arrangement.
Primrose has been having another full-of-wasps day.
Vincent is a well-put-together cat.

Still the little spoon, but not as (relatively) little when it's her mom as the big spoon instead of one of her large brothers. #Cats #CatsOfMastodon #FediCats #WhiskersWednesday

Almost the full crew were waiting for their #Caturday breakfast this morning.
Six years ago the kittens had grown out of their bleary-newborn phase and were fully into their adorable-troublemaker phase. I was also able to get one of the best family portraits I've ever taken of them.

And for fun I looked up the oldest photo I've taken on a May 14th and found this one from 24 years ago. This was basically the view I had from my apartment at the time.

At my job I work on a fairly niche piece of software, developed for one specific industry/market. The sort of thing where the customers are businesses/organizations, not individuals. So i don't really have a lot of opportunities to show people what it is I do.
A few weeks ago I was mildly excited when my software showed up in a couple seconds of stock footage in a video from a popular YouTube channel. Imagine my surprise when I was catching up on the latest season of a big-budget popular show, and was confronted with a scene where my software is actually the focus of two separate shots!
Six whole seconds of screen time, though the primary display widget was digitally replaced. They could have just replaced the whole screen but they kept in the rest of the UI elements (even though if you pause and examine all the data displays they contradict the overall narrative, completely breaking immersion
). Must have been filming on an actual location instead of a set.
So that's my new claim to fame, ha
