Is it just me or does this “AI Doomsday” talk seem like coordinated messaging?
Chatbots that are smart enough to destroy humanity would be really impressive, right? “Powerful enough to change the world” and “powerful enough to destroy the world” are similar claims and maybe they’re switching to the second one because nobody is buying the first anymore.

“Motorcycle section” puts me off this game more than anything else I’ve heard.
To my ear, “motorcycle section” screams single-level set-piece on rails with minimal gameplay designed to show off explosions. Just like that level where you man a minigun out the door of a helicopter. You know the one, from every game released in the 2010s.

Simi-related fun fact.
The biggest contributor to TOR is the CIA. They funded it’s creation and are primarily responsible for maintaining it to this day.
The CIA maintains TOR as a way for spies to pass information over the internet. They make it public because if only spies used TOR it would be trivial to catch them. So it’s in their interest that it be public and secure. It’s open source and security experts agree you can trust it.

This is so funny because to the people he’s pandering to, his children are the dirt in this country.

People leaving Twitter now is not very impressive. Less "seeing the light" and more "Trumpgret".
I'll remind you that the Debian project left Twitter over a year ago. So the EFF isn't as fast moving or comfortable with change like ... Debian.

If you’re a good Linux user and keep your packages up to date, and always say GuhNome, you’ll be given an .iso in the afterlife with the perfect distro. But not before.

You're right. Linux has always struggled to compete with hypothetical versions of Windows that aren't available. But you see, for testing purposes, we're forced to use the Windows version from this timeline.

Bitcoin is for dodging sanctions and the influence America has over the international banking and payment systems. It's also may shield third parties from sanctions the US may impose on those who transact with Iran.

Debian cut ties in January, so if you quit after that, you're officially slower to change than Debian.

It's a reference. The story that became "Blade Runner" was titled: "Do Androids dream of electric sheep?" Written by Philip K Dick.

I don't understand what you mean. How is one "memory holed"? Presumably this means to encourage people to forget, which is why Sandy Hook is a weird example. Not only was that one of the biggest stories of that year, it echoed through the news cycle for years through lawsuits, the Alex Jones thing being the most famous.
It's ironic to use anything as an example of something people forgot.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to gather racial data. Knowing that black Americans are more susceptible to high blood pressure isn't racist.

China is a big place. Saturation with security cameras is an urban thing.
Also, something I've learned in America is that people make a lot of noise about keeping kids safe, but that's all just smoke. I can't speak for China, but in America children are the least valuable humans, in economic terms, and they get prioritized accordingly.

The people who are satisfied with status quo are the beneficiaries of it.
People like Epstein can't exist without a universe of assholes who figure it's not their problem.

This is stupid because most of the people who know who Kirk is, only learned about him upon his death.
I'm pretty online, and didn't know much about him when he was alive EXCEPT that he was a huge meme.

the price point isn't outrageous, but it's not compelling when an Xbox controller can be bought for a third the price. Track-pads are nice, but people playing Steam are often sitting right next to a keyboard and mouse anyway.

Why do the simple people of the world insist that inelegance must be linked to some obvious measurable physical characteristic?
No matter how many times this idea gets humiliated by science, the dull inevitably wander back.

we were not considered white until the twentieth century.
That's a myth. While the Irish were certainly looked down upon by other Europeans, they were still European Christians and therefore white.
The Irish are set apart in Western Europe due to her anti-colonial struggles. And they were absolutely subjected to ethnic abuse at home and as immigrants. But the Irish colonial project wasn't underpinned by race-science the way African and American projects were. It was just regular imperialism: original recipe.
This is similar to people in Eastern Europe. The word Slav sounds like slave and that's not a coincidence.

Fiat currency is socially constructed and would cease to exist if we stopped believing in it. It's just that the value of gold works exactly the same way.

Casinos have operated like this for years. People who loose lots of money get flown to VIP events with free hotel, meals, concerts, and even mix with movie stars. People are employed as concierge to these gamblers, so it’s not MGM calling and encouraging you to gamble, it’s Beth or Stephen.
Gambling is just theft with extra steps. I’d ban all of it, including the lottery.

Hamburger helper is bullshit. They give you some dry noodles and a “spice” pack of dubious powder, you have to provide the beef and milk. That’s not helping very much.

Dude, you don’t have to pick! You can hate two different kinds of corruption at the same time.
Also there is no medical condition that makes you sign onto the board of a Ukrainian energy company. That’s rare even for crackheads.

If you read the article, this is a very specific legal question. And honestly, it’s too gross to contemplate, and having a strong opinion about this on the internet is rightly suspicious.
The good news is the criminal in this case didn’t just posess CSAM, and no matter how this shakes out, they going to jail.
