I’m too old and pessimistic for this world.
All I can think of is how there’s guaranteed to be massive spiders, and you’d be on high alert for wolves, bears, snakes, alligators, whatever there might be wherever that is.

I still visit reddit but only for relatively specific porn. If Lemmy is ever big enough to cater to everything like that I’m out.
Also stay away from my post history at that point please.

There'll be quite a few of us. I have no idea of the actual demographics or whatever, but a lot of people are here just because they got shafted by reddit one too many times.

Yeah the bios thats the word I was blanking on. Maybe i just ended up in the wrong places but it turned out there was like 8 different versions and multiple regions of each version and I kept running out of patience before running out of options.

Its not the world falling apart, just what we understand to be culture.
We thought the machines would take over the jobs to give us time enough to create great works of art of all sorts, and then we find out right at the last minute that actually the machines will be taking care of art because we're too busy working multiple jobs.

Thats pretty shocking to my untrained ass. I always assumed they did mass-produced sand, grinding up their own stones and stuff.

I mean its entirely possible. I struggle to believe there are that many people who are rich+powerful and also nonces. I really do believe that once you reached a certain level of influence you were told "WE run this world, youre either in or out." And we'll never be able to separate for sure whos a poor-little-rich-guy and whos an awful awful awful excuse for a human.
Only silver lining in MJ case is that hes already dead. We dont need to worry about it so much there.

100%. Everything bad that can happen because youre out your nut is already illegal, and most of the harm from drugs comes from the gang activity thanks to its illegality.

I havent seen a harpsichord or lion-fight lately, but even then it was humans doing it. Humans invented something, other humans participated.
Even CGI had humans doing it just with increasingly easy/powerful tools. Even dubstep had a human composer.
Yesterday we used the machines to create. Today we ask the machines to create. Tomorrow the machines just create for us.

It only works if you call them out on it. Just treat them like someone with a severe speech impediment in real life. Its annoying to listen to, its grating, but you just gotta get on with it.
Block them if its that big a deal to you.

Most toasters you can lift the pushy-downy-handle up a bit more than it rests at to lift the toast out.
My big problem is that (in the UK at least, don’t know about other nations) the standard sized bread doesn’t fit fully in a toaster, so the top ~3cm is still bread.

Is PS1/2 emulation “out-of-the-box-easy” yet?
I’ve tried a few times over the years and always lost patience before figuring out which bit went where. It was always missing a file that was “super-illegal to distribute but you can get it somewhere winkwink” but it was all region locked or something and I’m losing the will to live just trying to remember it.

Remember when covid happened and everyone had to stop working? Well not everyone, just everyone with bullshit jobs.
Everything was basically fine. The only real problems as far as i could tell were that we all thought we were going to die and were scared to go near our grandparents incase we killed them, and some lines stopped going up.
I wish we could do it again, share the “real jobs” out amongst everyone so we only had to work a couple days a week.

The comic itself kinda sucks now, I only read it for loyalty/habits sake these days, but it does get a grin from time to time.
The real joy is the posts, he loves to write and he loves what hes writing about and that genuinely comes through. Usually hes posting about games I’ll never play or events I’ll never attend, but when our experiences overlap I’ve never caught him with a “wrong take” so I assume I can trust him on the other stuff.
