Grand Seiko SLGW003 on MING Polymesh curved end links for #gswednesday
The straight end link Polymesh isn’t a fit.
Grand Seiko knows how to do dials and hands well. And honestly, their focus on these elements, which have gone ignored in recent history, have upped the game for all brands, which we benefit from as watch collectors.

The varying levels, colors, and finishes on the dial for the Armin Strom One Week First Edition work together so cohesively. The time is always easily readable, despite the seemingly busy look of the dial.
The combination of circular brushing on the bezel and dial and radial brushing on the rehaut make the Titanium 2 a standout on the MING 37.02 Ghost.
Fears Brunswick 38 Silver Sector Topper Edition for #fearsfriday. The details on this dial are subtle but the texture and color choices are restrained and refined.

@ppn one of my favorites is Halios. The Seaforth dial and indices dramatically improved on the Series IV. But that’s just Jason being Jason and always improving while not upping the price. It wasn’t due to GS. The before and after for the Seaforth is something else!

@ppn you’d like to see more do a better job? Totally agreed! I think, in general, we’ve seen the micros focus more on good dial design details. The big companies, not as much as they should, which is a shame.
There are subtle details on the dial of this H. Moser Streamliner Purple Haze that amp up legibility on an already very legible watch. The invisible logo allows the design to take center stage and the blasted sparkly base of the indices anchors them in any light. Add in the lovely hands with lume blocks and you have a perfect look. Adding these elements helps against the dark shifting color of this purple dial.

Very much loving the design of the Kurono Tokyo 37mm Inseki. I’ve always been a fan of meteorite dials, but the combination of meteorite with the white lacquered ring and the raised glossy black printing of numerals makes this watch dynamic and legible in all lighting conditions. This is my favorite release from them yet, and I love my Anniversary Reiwa, so that’s saying a lot.
The dial on this H. Moser Endeavour Centre Seconds Mosaic Funky Blue reminds me of an aerial view of crops, in the best way. The dial has so many shades of blue on it and reflects the light at every angle due to the directional brushing in different sections.

The dials on the Arcanaut Arc II Fordite and Havender showcase their materials. The matte Fordite dial shows off beautiful, organically shaped layers formed from gravity, paint, heat, and time, appearing like a topographical map. The Havender dial, in contrast, has small purposeful inclusions of shell to highlight the natural material used, but also the surprising purple tint that resulted from extracting blue mussel shell pigment.

Arcanaut Arc II Fordite Linear always gives me more to appreciate while looking at it. I particularly love the way the lines reflect and bend in the polished rehaut and also the sparkles in some of the layers of paint.
I love how the E.C. Andersson Mytilus takes the same textured look across the full design. The dial, case, and “bezel” (the case under the sapphire edge) all have a graining that states what this watch is — a tool watch, meant to be worn and used. The sandwich dial means the lume is excellent and the contrast between light and dark with the hands/dial on both models is legibility perfected.

Halios Seaforth Series IV in titanium, destro style. You can’t get a more legible, capable, luminous everyday watch than this for my tastes.
The finishing on Ondřej’s pieces are always rustic, yet also with great attention to detail. I love how the textures and polish complement each other here, along with the amazing combination of colors. His blurple hands are just perfection! Hodinky Berkus - Berkus OB-1

I had previously reported that the straight end link Polymesh didn’t work for the Discus Burger due to the short lugs and lack of clearance. Thankfully, a few people reminded me that the curved end link version could work and I’m happy to report it does!

When Kollokium switched from lume-filled metal pins to lume blocks (lichtblocks), they totally changed the way the dials look. Compare the difference between the Kollokium Projekt 01 Variant “F” to the Kollokium Projekt 01 Variant “B”. I love the texture on the base dial in both watches.
