I know the 70s was my schooldays and I grew up listening to the radio in the 60s, but I will stand firmly that today’s music really beats everything I ever experienced growing up, we’ve got some superb stuff today and I keep being amazed at how good today’s music is how lucky today’s teenagers are

@headfirstonly@mastodon.social I knew someone who worked at Quantel, was quite good friends with him on the rare occasions we met up #TOTP

@jess@blop.social I was looking to see what Roland that was and as usual it’s my deaf-spot of not having any recognition or interest in any of the Roland synths beginning with J, so I didn’t know #TOTP

Well, today’s work went well.
In the morning I did an important bit of surgery to the script, the next montage I’ve swapped characters entirely, and in a different country) and rewrote a lot of script (in Vim, on the Linux machine).
Then I pencil rendered two more panes of the montage, which brings me up to the end of the montage, scanned them on the fucking useless annoying HP failure of a printer, eventually, as usual, and ran out of time in the day then #TOTP

@pdcawley@mendeddrum.org I think where he’s self-criticising is that he is a bit nasal, and that’s just what he sounds like singing #TOTP

@headfirstonly@mastodon.social the chap I knew was James Russell, I got to know him because at ST World Magazine, when they started off they had a reader offer of a video modulator box for some of the early Atari ST models, and this was designed and put together by James. So he used to come in to the magazine publishing office now and then for purposes, and I found him very good to get on with for a chat about everything. #TOTP

I’ve spent the latter half of this week suddenly having changed my mind about a publication that is A5 landscape (saddle-stitched short-edge) I am now remaking the whole thing as A5 portrait (but still following manga-style right to left flow, front cover is where Western back cover is) (not because it’s a Japanese Manga, but because I’m left-handed and this is much more natural for me to read so fuck you)
I’m also taking the opportunity to embiggen every frame because my pictures are drawn full A4 size per frame or latterly A5 (two up on A4 to scan) and taking them down to the size I had them on the page made them all too small, the fine-ness suffered. So now more bigness. It’s better. But, it means my pagination has no relation to what it was before, I have more pages (I don’t know how many more yet, I’m only a quarter of the way through the remaking of the laying out in Affinity Publisher 2.
It’s suitable, as I’m at a break in the story, the first montage has finished, and they’re still in the park as they were before the montage started (only they’re buying ice creams now). #TOTP

The thing I don’t get is that although Pet Shop Boys put their stuff together almost in a DIY approach, Neil must’ve known he’s got a superb singing voice and Chris must’ve known he’s a very innovative music maker, so it obviously wasn’t some slapdash post-punk experimental ethos, it was a lot more project oriented from the start I suspect #TOTP
