RE: website issues.
I'm just the social media guy and blog editor, but I am trying to find out what's going on. Rest assured the right people are aware and are working on it. I don't know what caused the outage, but I'm sure it'll be resolved before long -- we don't like the site being down any more than you do!

Apologies for not posting sooner, I just didn't have enough info and was hoping to have more concrete details. As soon as I have them I will post here!

We want to offer a much better quality of service going foward. We understand that the lack of communication has been frustrating, and I have been closely watching social media and reporting the community's feelings up the chain, so your voices are being heard. The plan was not to have a long outage like this, but due to factors beyond the dev team's control, things have taken much longer than anticipated. Please be patient with us - I will keep updating here and on our other social media.

As you've no doubt noticed, the site is back up and running. The payment provider connections were one of the last things to get working, and we're still having some issues. However, as I stated before, your balances will be honoured and you will be able to disburse your funds as soon as the kinks are worked out.
I'll try and have a blog post on the Tindie Blog this weekend with more info, but I will be travelling so it may not be until Monday.

The new owners have told me anyone with a balance pending will have full access to it when the site is back up. No seller will lose any money they had held by Tindie before the transition.

I'm going to try and have more info later today. I'm taking community inquiries and compiling them and will post once I have answers to specific questions. If you have any specific questions, you can reply here, or you can email or private message us on any of our official platforms.

Based on the current estimate from the engineering team, the migration work is mostly complete and once comprehensive testing is complete the site will be live again. We don't want to make promises we can't keep re: timeline but it sounds like the bulk of the work is finished.
Also, there are no changes to the API at this time. The priority is on restoring the site and getting things moving again. Keep checking back here for updates.

Tindie is currently undergoing scheduled maintenance as part of a platform transition. The team is working to bring the site back online as soon as possible. We appreciate the patience of our sellers, buyers, and community during this process.

Great news! In the last couple of hours, PayPal *finally* got everything working for Tindie. Purchases and disbursements should be working as normal now. If you have any issues, please reach out and let us know!

Nobody will be out any money. We committed to that before the site came back up and we meant it. If you are having issues, please be patient. Working with payment providers is never a fast process.

Of course, I spend the time to write a statement, GPG sign it, get it online, post it to social media sites and THEN notice a period that should have been a comma.🤦‍♂️

@tripplehelix @revk I can assure you that's not the case. Believe me, I know the lack of details is annoying but rest assured, Tindie is not going anywhere. The site is not gone, and there really are some awesome changes in the works. As soon as I can reveal more, I will, you have my word on that.

@0xTJ@mastodon.social Ah, I should have rephrased that. Once the infrastructure was offline and it was clear the backend needed work, it seemed logical to get it done immediately seeing as how the transfer process was ongoing anyway.

@revk @burtyb As I've stated before, there was no attack or hack. As far as timeline goes, I don't want to make promises we can't keep. Shipping deadlines for pending orders will likely be extended due to the downtime, I'm just waiting on word about how that will happen.

@leonerd Well, the plus side is that the owners actually care about the site. We weren't just part of a larger purchase, this buyer specifically wanted to help Tindie grow. The new team is very small, not some giant corporation. So I think we'll see more of a personal touch going forward. Now we will have dedicated people focusing full time on Tindie!

@thereminhero As stated before, your balance is there, and we are going to honour those balances. The issue is technical at the moment, getting new infrastructure connected to payment processors can be difficult.
