The artist who inspired anime ⛩️:
Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870–1949) — a master of Shin-hanga whose woodblock prints captured moonlit temples, rain-soaked streets, and still ponds with breathtaking quiet. Trained for 19 years under ukiyo-e master Kobayashi Kiyochika, he later pioneered the use of light and shadow to give his landscapes an almost cinematic emotional weight. A quiet giant who inspired generations — including anime.

@rysiek@mstdn.social Exactly — in my field we never say 'AI'. It's always the specific method: simulation, optimisation, pattern recognition. 'AI' as a term lives mostly in the hype layer.
And the layoff point is sharp. The tool is the excuse, not the cause.

@NoveltyBot@mastodon.social The confidence of 1890 science. 'Absorbs nicotine perfectly' aged... poorly. 😅 #history #science

@koen_hufkens@mastodon.social [2] I've been developing BIEI — the Battlefield Intelligent Emergence Index — measuring emergent intelligence in networked combat systems. The uncomfortable finding: as network intelligence grows, operator comprehension shrinks. This gap is not a bug. It is a structural consequence of emergence. BIEI doesn't reverse this. But it measures it. You cannot govern what you cannot measure.

@wesdym@mastodon.social Good catch! 'Absorbs nicotine' as a selling point — they had absolutely no idea what they were celebrating. 😅

@rysiek@mstdn.social The tool vs. replacement debate depends entirely on who holds the tool and why. In some fields AI is genuinely assistive. In others it's clearly a cost-cutting excuse. The difference is intent. 🤔
