A computer needs billions and billions of pictures to recognize something and most of the times is not even perfect while a human, a dog or any intelligent being is able to abstract the concept of something (ex. cats) just by looking at it once

@reiddragon @EUCommission @troed @tantramar Not only on social media but on scientific research in physics, medicine and chemistry. In my university they have been used for many years even before the explosion of LLMs

@Rhube @tantramar @troed @reiddragon @EUCommission "well its just a stateless function pretending to be AI" so what? We know we haven't and will never achieve AI, but of course here we are talking about a specific class of technologies that are socialized as AI for commercial reasons

@reiddragon @EUCommission AI is objectively useful and actually superpowers productivity if used properly, if we dont manage to make our own alternatives we'll end up falling behind the USA and China. We need an alternative that's not a dystopian I am mostly against the usage of AI and tech in general in education where it's not really needed (ex. students with disabilities or for coding classes) and in art, but for productivity? That is awesome
