Uberization of the Novel
TLDR: the deluge of sludge in self-publishing makes it harder to find cool books, forcing authors to spend most of their time fighting robots to share their work.
@steaphan@indieauthors.social It's a struggle to toe the line between a character being too unlikable, and being unlikable in a way where you feel conflicted and want to hear their story. Like a character can be compelling despite being unlikable if the reader feels comfortable disliking them. I think Cass's saving grace is she's funny. With Artie, it's his innocence. But overall, they are trainwrecks as people.

*movie voice* IN A WORLD...overflowing with gen AI garbage and "writers" trying to get rich quick, he made one promise: write fast-paced short novels you can read in a day (or 2 if you're a slow reader). Come on. It's free! You have nothing to lose but your boredom!
i agree with part of the premise: not letting bigots go unchallenged. but also, the propaganda and ads-burdened, CSAM-generator site is no longer a winnable forum. abandon ship. It's on its way to becoming a mainstream 8chan and should be shut down before it does anything worse.
Why Short Novels?
I wrote something short about short novels. Long story short, I love the unity of experience and how fast they move.
Dr. Wolf, the Wolf Doctor
TLDR: I'm writing a werewolf novel, and I want it to be weird as fuck. The basic idea: a medical thriller with a werewolf protagonist that stays true to both genres while taking into account modern developments in werewolf fiction.
i know typos are supposed to be the sworn enemy and all, but sometimes they're so funny, and you should share them with others.
Today was a big writing day. Finished the first draft of my WIP. It always feels like a good point to celebrate. Before the reality of editing sets in, that is. For now, it can take a nap while I work on other stuff.
