Computer scientists love to yell "Connect Four is a SOLVED GAME" while losing
Overheard between a ~6yo girl and her beleaguered dad at the CLT airport:
Kid: "When I was in preschool, someone told me they had an iPad that could charge to one thousand percent. Is that even a thing?"
Dad (visibly exhausted): "no"
Kid: "Is that even a thing now??"
Dad: "no"
Kid (pensively): "…or they might've just had a really good iPad"
Dad: "no"
gonna kill whoever coined "one-to-one" as the pleb version of "injective", moderators note this is not a threat of violence because they're already dead, however I'm still gonna do it
kickbanned from IRC for telling people "Serge Lang" is short for "Surjective Lang" 🙄
What's the biggest sum type (or similar) you've ever in production? Any language is fine

FWIW I am in the category of "kept needing it, didn't know, and worked it out" [unsatisfyingly, but I begrudgingly used it going forward because I had no other option]. This was in undergrad, I was not familiar with trichotomy and had not studied real analysis or logic

Sorry just edited the options to clarify ambiguity if the respondent did not previously know, which apparently (and reasonably) resets all votes :')
It was previously 3-3 between "someone told me" and "it was obvious"
"I just preferred the pacing of the book. The main character's arc felt a lot more believable," I say, taking another huge bite of Uncrustable as my interlocutor nods on appreciatively
An underrated boon of de Bruijn indexing is that it takes away all the mental overhead/hassle of naming things. Whenever I can't think of a good identifier, I just name it "de Bruijn"
