#ScribesAndMakers Day 17: What's something you've learned in recent research?
Differences in archery styles from different cultures (Mongols, early Japanese and kyudo, medieval England, Native American)
writer, artist, mum, spoonie, and very tired
#ScribesAndMakers Day 17: What's something you've learned in recent research?

#ScribesAndMakers Day 18: Do you ever read out loud, either to yourself or someone else?
Sometimes I'll read my poetry aloud to see if it flows right and it sounds pleasing to the ear.
#ScribesAndMakers Day 16 How do you feel about illustrations in (non-comic) books?
As someone who includes art in her poetry collections, yes, please. 😁
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 17: Can plots which hinge on a misunderstanding be done well?
Yes, if it's done well and it makes sense. But most times, it's done horribly. A lot of Hallmark romances have that trope that makes me wince.
#ScribesAndMakers Day 22: Create a micro-story in six words.
Arsenic makes quite an unhealthy condiment.
#ScribesAndMakers Day 6
Some people have creative work inspired by their dreams. Have you?
Occasionally, if I remember them. I don't usually remember my dreams.
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 18: Does your writing ever get away from you?
Sometimes. I'll go with it and see where it leads. If It works, I may just go in that direction. If not, it may plant the seed for another story.
#WordWeavers Day 18
If your antagonist had to learn a musical instrument, what would they pick and why?
Jhana plays the lute and the harp. She was trained as an entertainer.
Tink's not really a musician, but if she had to choose, it would probably be the drums. Something in the background and not front and center.
#ScribesAndMakers day 21: What everyday object would you photograph as if it were art?
Flowers.
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 6 Do the plots or characters in your work converge towards a single point?
Sometimes, but not always. It depends on how big the story is. The supporting cast have their own plots.
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 19: How can prose achieve lyricism without verse structure?
Strong imagery, rhythm and word choice. Use comparisons, like similie and metaphor, and deft phrasing.
Prose can sound like poetry.
#WordWeavers Day 16. If your MC lived in our world, would they have good financial credit?
Jhana: no. She tends to overspend.
Tink: Her credit rating would be perfect. She's very frugal and would insist on paying everything off on time (if not early).
#ScribesAndMakers Day 7, Would your current creative project make a good game?
I can see Jhana's story be a video game like Road to Empress, where you navigate through a very dangerous court and try to survive with your life.
North: CLOUDS
look beyond the #clouds
can you see your dreams floating
can your hands catch them?
South: BRIGHT LIGHTNING

#writersCoffeeClub Day 21: Do you celebrate any writerly anniversaries or special occasions?
I celebrate a finished project with a special treat, whether it be a meal or getting something special for myself.
#WordWeavers Day 4. Choose a character to invite to a party. What kind of party is it? Does it have special rules (dress code, bring alcohol, etc.)?
Jhana would be more social than Tink. She'd dress elegantly, bring the alcohol and be very social. There would be lots of food and music.
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 22. How do you organise your notes? (No notes?)
Excel, Google Docs and Elipsus.
#ScribesAndMakers Day 19: Have you ever been to a poetry reading?
Yes. Some have featured a particular poetry, and others are like Open Mic or Poetry Slam nights.
North: COLT
the new colt runs fast

he will be a racer
South: MUSHROOMS
right after a rain
#mushrooms spring among the logs
which ones are poison?
#WritersCoffeeClub day 8: Do you do warm-ups before or cool-downs after a writing session?
Nope. I usually have to squeeze in writing whenever I can because of limited time. I don't usually have it for a warm up or cool down.
#WordWeavers Day 8 Do any of your characters tell jokes? If so let them tell us a joke, please.
Yes, but unless you have the context, it won't make sense unless you read the story.
In Tink's case, her attempts usually fall flat because it isn't the words or the humour, but her delivery.
#ScribesAndMakers Day 8. Victuals?
Today was ramen noodles, water and mocha chocolate yogurt. I'm trying to eat healthier nowadays.
#WritersCoffeeClub Day 7
Do you combine poetic fragments and prose paragraphs in your work?
Sometimes. I'll use a poem from "in-world" to introduce chapters or sections of a novel.
#WordWeavers Day 7. Look around and describe an object as if it were a mysterious item (no name, no idea of it's purpose).
Six discs of numbers

a flower pattern
with a goddess

North: CARP

South: RIPE GRAPES

#WordWeavers Day 6 Can you create a character/place/storyhook/device on the spot, if you need to? If so, share an example.
"Hey, Chief, what the hell is THIS?"
He hurried over to where his assistant knelt on the ground. He looked over and his face turned pale.
"Don't move. Stay there. I'll get help."
It took five other people to clear the jungle debris before the pile of skeletons was revealed.
#WordWeavers day 22: Is there a subject that’s represented poorly in media that you’d like to cover in your work?
Diversity and representation.
#WordWeavers Day 19—If your SC was going on a trip, would they pack light or take too much?
Captain Trace is an experienced traveler. He'd pack light and get whatever he needed on the way to or at his destination.

#WritersCoffeeClub Day 4: Switch between past and present tense? How do you make it work?
It depends on what I'm writing. If it's a flashback, I make it clear that I'm writing in the past.
I usually write in first or third person past. I very rarely write in present tense, unless it's poetry.
