I have something I need to get off my chest: I don’t enjoy using LLM tools for programming. There’s a lot of ceremony to coax it into giving me what I want and then I have to meticulously read over what it produces to verify it’s right. Meanwhile, i really like writing software. I don’t like managing a statistical model. I just want to write it all myself. I tried Copilot recently and am currently using Claude code and it can be helpful. But it’s taken a meaningful amount of the joy from my work when using it. Setting aside all of the issues with it, I just don’t like using it.
