Earlier this year, I had the occasion to design a new logo for the video sharing app @loops 😊

Turning the play symbol into a Möbius strip-like design reintroduces the notion of “loop” into the icon. I also created several animated versions, playing with the infinite construction of the design, for various uses such as loading screens and video idents.

Thanks @dansup@mastodon.social for your trust! You can go try the app here: https://loops.video

RE: https://fosstodon.org/@vinyl_cache/116239868219463184 The identity is now live on the newly revamped Vinyl Cache website: https://vinyl-cache.org It’s also released under a Creative Commons license to guarantee that the open source project can use it freely. Oh and finally: they actually had a new software release today, have a look below! Thanks a lot to @slink@fosstodon.org especially as well as the rest of the @vinyl_cache@fosstodon.org team for your trust! It has been a pleasure to work on this, can’t wait to see where it’s going :) 3/3 #VinylCache

It isn’t just the logo :) Meet the Vinyl Ghost, a new mascot for the project. A mystic but friendly creature who nests on web servers. Like hermit crabs, it caches itself underneath a sheet of vinyl. Yet, it’s always out there to lend a hand delivering webpages. I drew the mascot in a few different poses and expressions, with possibilities to create more in the future! And of course, visual identity classics: colour palette, typeface selection. 2/3 #GraphicDesign #Mascot #Logo #VinylCache

Tiny webpage update for the new year! I added some more details on what I do, as an interim page before a fully-fledged website. Also: currently open for projects, in case you need a designer :)

Icons!

Regularly, projects lead to the creation of custom pictograms, which is a lot of fun to do. Translating concepts into simple shapes can be an interesting puzzle.

They can be minimalist or more detailed, monochrome or multicoloured, geometric or organic, corporate or informal, all depending on the visual identity they are matching and the target size they’ll be displayed at.

Attaching a range of four icon sets I did in varied styles 😊

@Rhababerbarbar @loops @dansup Yes that’s really cool! I had considered it but it’s much harder to pull off in a flat logo. Would be fun to see a take on this! The idea of the animations I arrived at is that it gives another dimension to what you first see, you get this uninterrupted line that is going round three times before looping back to itself, and to me that was cool too structurally!

@perksofbeingben Thanks!! 😊 And yes so I kept the yellow and black scheme because it was indeed looking good already, and so that there’s some continuity in branding and that it can be a swap-in replacement in existing designs where the old logo was used. But I don’t actually know how the decision came to be to use these colours in the first place! That’s a question for @dansup 😁
