Looking for mentions/conceptualisations of the baroque in African Studies, does anyone have tips? I’ve read Mbembe again, as well as Ong and the Latin American stuff (Gago, Santos, Echeverría, Glissant), has any of that left traces in African studies?
I love it when I reread an article for a volume I edit and all the work, engagement and commenting of the editors, including myself, shine through. Improving others' articles is such satisfying work, and I'm always grateful for when I'm on the receiving end of peer reviews, comments and feedback. Academia can be great when you work in community.

Mein Argument ist folgendes: Um einen Analyseansatz mit der "Stimme" zu entwickeln, sollte man nicht nur von gesprochenen Sequenzen im Radio ausgehen. Die Stimme kann im Benjamin'schen Sinne das "radiofonische Objekt" (Baudouin) des Radios umfassen, und wie Benjamin es formuliert, Sprecher*innen zu Gästen der Hörenden und Hörer*innen zu Gästen der Sprechenden machen. Nicht nur entwickeln Radiosender eine eigene "Stimme" (ihren charakterischen Klang, Message, Atmonsphäre usw.), sie *bündeln* auch eine Vielzahl von Stimmen ihrer Hörer*innen und stellen so Gemeinschaft her.

Adorno war skeptisch, was das angeht, und meinte, diese Nähe sei eine „Illusion“ im Gegensatz zur Gemeinschaft des Konzertsaales, die die "hidden forces" hinter der Radiostimme verberge. Aber die neue Literatur gerade zum Radio in kolonialen Gesellschaften steht fest auf Benjamins Seite.
Sie betont die Gemeinschaften, die sich durch die Bündelung vieler Stimmen ergeben, und die Reziprozität, die die von Brecht geforderte "Kommunikation"ssituation sozial permanent herstellte, auch wenn sie technisch nicht in dieser Direktheit gegeben war.
