@tokudan@chaos.social @pixeldorf@mstdn.social @jolla@techhub.social ah then you will receive a second one, they will send it out over the next week

@hetisniels@mastodon.social @jellyfin@mastodon.online yes same with newpipe. Hence we founded the association with clear goals to not allow this to happen, and we are very open to expand to more projects. It's a bit of a challenge to formulate all these thoughts and legal reasoning, but in a nutshell German associations are bound to their statue goals, and you can only change these goals with a 2/3 majority. So as long as enough of the people behind the projects join the association, you can assure this never happens.

@hetisniels@mastodon.social @jellyfin@mastodon.online hey we recently started against going against NewPipe clones doing the same thing. We founded a german association in order to do that. Maybe thats of interest for you?

@ericwastl@hachyderm.io out of curiosity, why did you decide to run it for 12 days from 1-12.12, and not run it for 24 days and release a puzzle every second day?

@hetisniels@mastodon.social @jellyfin@mastodon.online You can find its internet presence at https://newpipe-ev.de The association structure works for lots of other online projects, e.g. Codeberg, KDE from the top of my hat

@iobear@mstdn.dk @hetisniels@mastodon.social @jellyfin@mastodon.online Our approach was we registered a trademark, and apple/companies respects trademark violations. That doesn't stop them from publishing the apps with a different name, but you wont get users with a random name. And those who do won't confuse the app with NewPipe.

@chrokaki @_elena its called hochbahn for a reason after all.

@tokudan@chaos.social @pixeldorf@mstdn.social @jolla@techhub.social thats in the second paragraph of the mail
