We went pretty quickly from "IDEs are cool and you can find tech tips at StackOverflow" to "AI will do all the things all the time"

I'm now doing my calendar with #OneCalendar on Android and #Nextcloud for sync and the Web browser. I'm using #Thunderbird to run the calendar on desktop, but I'm also open to exploring other apps for Linux. Next step: a new second-factor authentication app #degoogle

@thunderbird@mastodon.online Seems like a natural fit. I'm not as excited about $72/year as I would be about $36/year.

Today's post is about trouble with two #GNOME apps after #RedHat declines to transfer employee out of the U.S. https://zola.passthejoe.net/blog/gnome-maintainer-leaves/

It's the 1 millionth's article by someone who would use Linux on the desktop if only they could run Adobe apps and their favorite games.

My take is that if you really need Adobe and are willing to pay for it, you need an Adobe appliance.

I'm not a gamer, so I'll leave that argument to the experts.

For me, the point of free software OSes isn't to run a bunch of proprietary apps. It's the opposite thing.

I'm not a pro developer (and barely an amateur) and don't use AI, but I still choose Project #Bluefin as my atomic Linux distro.

First of all, I'm a believer in atomic/immutable systems, and I also like a plug-and-play system where so many things work well and look good while doing it.

Add a supportive community, extremely open and communicative development, helpful documentation and enough modern technology to make it interesting.

And my favorite thing: It only updates once a week.

@pseudonym@mastodon.online This is basically too much work for both staff and the customer. I can't deal. I just order online -- sometimes from Target, sometimes other.

@vwbusguy Strings are one of the things that's often counterfeit on Amazon, so it's critical to have a trusted source. Strings by Mail has a huge inventory, and the strings are always fresh because they turn it over. It's not free shipping, but it's cheap enough. They are great people to deal with.
