The difference I think is that I'm not aware, fortunately, of any other country in recent history killing over 30K of its own people and gang-raping nurses and a lot more things in internet blackouts. I'm not sure if the current regime is any better than Pahlavi and its Savak, if not worse. (1/2)

@pegdhcp@mastodon.online @netblocks@mastodon.social Maybe you don't know this, but as an Iranian, I know that for the past 4 years, digital blackout means lots of people getting killed, phones and security camera footage being grabbed, and another massacre hidden. This doesn't invalidate your insurgence argument, but Iran also *does* use these periods to wage war on its own citizens.
