Jasper has woken from a delightful 6hr nap. There will be a short intermission for refreshments, after which sleep will resume.

White stuff! Falling from the sky!
Cats don't seem too bothered. 🤣
Stunning sunset this evening. Photos never do it justice.
A very happy new year to all my lovely Mastodon friends and anyone else who pops by! 👋
If you're feeling a bit blue after all the celebrations, my latest post will give you a virtual hug: https://onlinegoddess.net/2026/01/your-best-days-are-still-ahead/
I'm usually a bit miserable early January, so that was written to put a positive spin on things.
You've got to laugh at how utterly useless we are when the weather is sub-freezing. Youngest's school has just emailed to say they won't open tomorrow because of weather conditions.
We literally get rail cancellations because of snow on the tracks!
So going by that logic, nobody in Scandinavia, most of Canada and northern Russia etc ever leave their homes? 🤣
Arghh.... HMRC's webfiling service is seriously the most awful website I've ever had the (dis)pleasure of being forced to use. I only need to file for a domant company and it's a logistical nightmare to navigate, I dread to think what it''s like if you have to file for active one!

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt @Erased_Citizen@cupoftea.social Better than staring at a hedge for several hours, waiting for the mouse he saw 3 months earlier to pop its head out again.
@schnedan@social.tchncs.de We had some heavy snow back in 2010 here. My boys wish for a white Christmas every year. I can't believe they've barely had any experience of it.

@obscura I bought the app a few months ago and haven’t played with it much (amateur user who keeps defaulting to the stock app). So I admit when I saw it going subscription I wouldn’t be using it again.
I gave it a spin yesterday and have to say I’m impressed. It’s noticeably easier to use for a lazy person like me. And I really appreciate you haven’t forced existing users onto a sub to keep features. Will the 1st year discount be around for a bit? Might go for it anyway lol.
@schnedan@social.tchncs.de Definitely up there lol, sadly nowhere near us. But we can hope!

@obscura I decided to go ahead and subscribe today. The dual reticules are very useful! 😃
I saw mention of a Home Screen widget and a live activity option, but can’t seem to find them. Are these planned features rather than current ones?
