Everybody should let their banks know they will move their money elsewhere if the banks keep trying to lock them into the US mobile duopoly.
You may not want to switch to a different operating system now but you might need to (even suddenly) in the future and this is the biggest blocker for many.

As I'm on a single-user instance, I still have a habit of opening posts' "original page" in a browser tab, on their source instance where's usually the most complete version of all the replies, uninfluenced by any potential blocks, mutes, defederations etc.

Jen teda tahle věta zní spíš jako moment, kdy autor zjistil, že jsou různé menšiny součástí (i) technologických projektů odjakživa, než že by to jakkoliv souviselo s Fediverse. :)

@stooovie@mas.to @chatcontrol@mastodon.social They'd essentially have to in the end, though. There's a ton of encrypted communication tools already out there, including their source code. Mandating "chat control" would mean that anything that allows end-to-end encrypted communication between people would become illegal. What about the non-EU versions that won't comply? S/MIME or PGP encrypted mail? Etc. It all has to be banned as well, right?

I'd love them to finally give up these futile attempts. I'm not taking it lightly and had written to my representatives to oppose this.

@fennek@cyberplace.social Websites can work offline just as well. You can also add an icon for it to your home screen. It's a common misconception that the web can't do those things. And it would work even on a laptop, for example.

@ancientpixel @scottjenson Unfortunately, the hashtag following is a new feature in 4.0 which release-candidate version is deployed on the 2 flagship instances managed by the main Mastodon developer (mastodon.social and .online). So anyone running on the stable releases will likely have a different experience. I don't know how it behaves in the version, yet. :/

The current implementation will ensure #Europe's lock into #Google Android and #Apple iOS. Not a single journalist asked her about that at the press conference.
