A new day. A new chance to succeed.
A broken night's sleep has me up too soon and groggy. It would figure that the day I don't have a 2 mile walk scheduled is the day I wake up long before the sun.
So it goes.
I still have things to do. Status checks on various works in progress. A trip to the market later. Wood and water tasks.
With 100F+ in the forecast, it's a good day to hunker down and wait it out.

A wood and water day, like most. One extra task for the list. Maybe two if I do my laundry.
Moving day here. After 3+ years, my last morning post. My last daily haiku on Zirk.us.

The sun got up before I did. It's going to make my morning walk less pleasant, but my body must have needed the extra minutes of sleep.
I have a few minutes before I have to start the business of the day. My coffee is fresh, not too hot to drink. Mostly wood and water tasks on the list.
A good time to be grateful that, in the midst of the chaos, I can still find quiet, if only for a few moments.

What a difference a good night's sleep makes. I feel like I'm in the day instead of observing it from some fog bound land.
I've had them more often lately. More than any time in my life. The dichotomy shows up most clearly when a good night follows a bad.
Turns out the so-so ones are the problem. The good enough ones that really aren't.
I guess I needed to see a bad one side by side with a good to really understand.

A rare morning that started with waking from a nightmare. The hangover continues, even half an hour after waking.
It's not a new one. After work, I discover my car has been towed. I don't know who towed it or where it went. A parking violation in the employee parking lot but the business is now closed so I have nobody to ask about what I'd done or where the car went.
0/10. Do not recommend.

Oh, coffee, my coffee. You betrayed me in the night, but stand redeemed in morning's wat'ry light.
I made the mistake of brewing myself a single cup at dinner last night. Strong. Rich. Delicious.
That one cup lasted until I realized - at bed time - I still nursed it.
Caffeine at bedtime, slow dosed and dripped over hours.
A poor night ended with the aroma of the morning drip.
Resurrected.

A quiet, recovery day after two days of workmen, blown schedules, and stress.
A day to reset and start anew. Again.
It happens.
Not regularly, which is what makes it stand out. I don't notice the days that unfold quietly except when I remember to pay attention.
Yet so many of them do.
So I'll reset. Chop some wood. Carry some water. Maybe take a walk that's not on the schedule just because I can.

That the struggle matters more than the goal. Without it, you never reach the goal.

Workman due this morning. A different crew tomorrow. The week will not end quietly but it will end.

Slow going on reviving my Practice. It improves a bit each day.
Watching everything happening, I realize I'm both privileged and blessed. Perhaps cursed with memories of better times that were never perfect and fears about what comes next.
So I'll chop wood, carry water.

Nothing on my calendar beyond the daily wood and water. A leg rest day. No need for any trips out side.
An early wake up has me appreciating my morning quiet. The last few weeks, I've been sleeping much more, rising with the sun instead of in the tail end of night.
Not actual quiet. The motors of modern life provide a background noise. One that seems comforting in these hours before dawn.

Another day of workmen. I hope the last steps in correcting some problems that I lack the wherewithal to fix myself.
After this, with luck and a little focus, perhaps I can get back my Practice back on track.
In the meantime, I have the normal wood and water tasks. Some will slip. I'll need to chop more tomorrow to make up for it.
A small price to pay for getting things made right.
