Replying to
@glyph@mastodon.social you might be interested in python-sql which is a protection against SQL injections. It aims to be lighter than full fledged ORMs. Our goal is also to make SQL queries #python objects that are composable and introspectable We've been using it for years in #tryton so it covers quite a lot of the SQL standard. What's missing from my quick look to dbxs is the typing part. https://pypi.org/project/python-sql/

I'm still puzzled by the fact that for all this time #odoo has been using werkeug"s native HTTP server in production.

I mean the warning about not using it must have been there for something like 5 years. How many developpers saw it and thought "How screw that I don't care about security anyway" 🤦 .

Also it"s such a simple fix (doesn't appear to be when reading the MR but it is) that it should have been a no brainer.

@mdione@en.osm.town @glyph@mastodon.social you're right as __bool__ should returns either True or False. So yeah, in the end the bitwise operators were the best choice.

@mdione@en.osm.town @glyph@mastodon.social yes but there is no dunder method to override and or or so we chose to use the bitwise operators as people recognize them anyway.

@Gargron@mastodon.social a more technical explanation is available there: https://localmess.github.io/ With more Facebook shenanigans when the researchers disclosed the information. Yandex applications are also using the same trick.

@cedrickrier@mastodon.social @glyph@mastodon.social indeed but dbxs does typing of the resulting records which python-sql can not do
