Buy me a coffee:
Golden Gate started showing names under contact images in the Messages sidebar when you have it collapsed down. Is there a way to remove these?
I just want an iPhone Pro the size of the folded Duo.

Welp.
As of this morning, I am no longer employed, and am looking for a new role.
If you happen to know anyone hiring remote positions in the US, and looking for:
- Lead/Senior/Principal level software engineers (Ruby/Rails, React, NodeJS, etc.)
- Business Analysts
- Engineering Managers
please let me know.

If you pay me $2000 I'll give you an iPad mini that I folded.
The downfall of the MacBook Neo: I don’t have enough real estate for stickers.
Took the day off from the application grind. Watched basketball. Played Clair Obscur. Cleaned a ton of stuff. Changed the cabin filter on the van. Read.
Tomorrow I can go back to being bummed out about everything. Today, though… today I found some peace.
Still on the job hunt. Not surprising, but certainly disappointing. (IMO, any time you reach the final round of a job search, orgs should provide more than just a generic 1-paragraph rejection email... but I digress.)

The parts for this have been sitting on my shelf for a year and a half. With a meetup happening next weekend, I figured now was a great time to get it finished.
Say hello to the Masonry. (Plus build photos) #mechanicalkeyboards
It’s a very weird feeling when you’re working with a recruiter to interview for a position, and then that recruiter gets laid off. 🤨
Them: "So how long have you been in to computer stuff?"
Me:
Looking for some good RSS feeds to follow. Appreciate regular posters, but prefer quality over quantity (I have plenty of noisy feeds).
Interests: Apple, technology, PC/Nintendo gaming, music, sports, reading, and generally just cool stuff.
The urge to nuke my computer and start over yet again, just because I have nothing better to do right now.
Free idea for any recipe manager out there:
Allow users to sort by "Random"
Float things to the top I may not have seen in a while. That'd be slick. Thanks.
It’s Tax Day!
It’s been determined that many of you owe back taxes as you have not shared enough photos of your pets. Please submit payment of one (1) photo PER PET to this thread.

@tylersticka I was a piano player from a very young age - sitting on the front of the seat was ingrained in my brain early.
2 VERY stupid Mac bugs that I'm annoyed that I'm still dealing with in 2026:
1. Once I put my Apple Card info in to the Wallet & Apple Pay preference pane, the pane will not load.
2. Apple Discussions Pages use JavaScript to suppress the default ⌘[ key command for going back a page. (FB16305587)
Those of you working in the CLI a lot - what are your favorite aliases that might be useful to others?
Some of mine:
- Better ls command: alias lsa='ls -lAFh'
- A command to drop/recreate/re-seed my Postgres DBs: alias dbnuke='bundle exec rake db:drop db:create db:migrate db:seed'

@starling no but it does give you a “I choose not to answer” option which part of me wonders if I’m getting dinged for choosing that
6 years ago today was my final full in-office day.
Monday, March 16, we came into the office, immediately had a meeting about "what do we need to do to be fully remote", and bounced.
What a ride.
Still attempting to figure out why knowing which sexual organs I possess, and/or what I am doing with them, is relevant on a job application. Is this just me being thick?

@Brian This isn't just one company either. At least 25% of the applications I've been filling out have asked for this information.

@starling yeah but I didn’t think they were allowed to ask this at all. https://www.eeoc.gov/pre-employment-inquiries-and-gender
Having that “ah beans” realization that I’ve been applying to jobs while everyone is on, or about to be on, spring break.

@viticci@mastodon.macstories.net @stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social Probably fed all of these in to Image Playgrounds or something.
@caseyliss@mastodon.social You brought up RSS on a previous ATP.
- What's your current feed reader of choice? I know many of our generation are stuck on NNW, or possibly Reeder 5. That where you're at, or have you tried tools like Current?
- How do you categorize your feeds? Do you have general buckets you put things into & attempt to triage individually, or do you firehose everything?
- Any recs on your favorite feeds that might be off the main road for many of us?
(This can totally be an Ask ATP ?)
The fact that you can't do an a la carte option for AppleCare Family is stinky. $50/mo for everything is probably really nice, but that's WAY more than we need. I just want to be able to cover our devices exactly like the AppleCare One plan where I can pick and choose, but across family members.

Meet the iPhone Duo.

@caseyliss Currently investigating this for myself. Plex is where I started, but I was quickly redirected to Jellyfin.
Decided to switch up my RSS flow a little bit. Trying out Current. https://www.terrygodier.com/current
Discord has finally given us a centralized Favorites section, which means they finally have a feature for which I would consider giving them money.
