Does anyone have any recommendations for Gameboy emulators that work on Linux that have:

  • Link Cable support over TCP
  • Remote debugging (or a cli debug console)
  • State file loading

I have used BGB for this, but wine is annoying and I want to redirect debugger output and script it better.

So excited for tmp.0ut 5! There is so much amazing stuff in here.

I highly recommend checking out our interview with programming legend Doug McIlroy. It was surreal to get to chat with him. He's 94 now, and was citing papers he was influenced by in the 1940s and 50s...

Absolutely love when devs leave their custom protocol source in a random dir in their firmware file system. Thank you for your commitment to OSS.

This paper is pretty interesting, creating harmonic distortions via GPU workloads to attack data center power infra Bit2Watt: A Cyber-Physical Vulnerability Exploiting GPU Workloads Across Power and Computing Infrastructures https://arxiv.org/abs/2607.05993

Bit2Watt: A Cyber-Physical Vulnerability Exploiting GPU Workloads Across Power and Computing Infrastructures

Modern data centers increasingly rely on large-scale GPU clusters and on-site renewable energy resources, resulting in a tightly coupled cyber-physical system between computing workloads and power-electronic-dominated grids. In this paper, we reveal Bit2Watt, a previously unexplored vulnerability in which an adversary manipulates GPU workloads to induce controlled, high-frequency power modulations that destabilize local power infrastructure and propagate back to disrupt computing services. The first known RDOFF exectuable file which runs in nasm's deprecated rdx loader was demonstrated by me last year for BGGP6. The second known RDOFF binary is a virus that targets the first file (and any other RDOFF). It will be published in the forthcoming @tmpout@haunted.computer Volume 5.

Is there a term for when people spend exponentially more time trying to get an LLM to do a task correctly, than it would have taken to just do the task themselves?

Whenever I use Chrome to debug a modern website, it's so funny to see all the requests usually blocked by my normal setup. It's like watching a fish being released back into the sea, swimming happily, gobbling up all the data and sending telemetry out to the other fish.

"The lights of Caracas were largely turned off, due to a certain expertise that we have"

It's honestly not particularly hard to attack critical infra, but if you do, you're just as bad if not worse than the people who ransomware hospitals.

For everyone wondering why I bought a cheap HP, I got it when I lived in a pretty rural area and needed to print and sign a document out by the morning. I got it at Walmart and it was one of the only printers there, and the cheapest by a non-trivial amount. It can be hard to find printing services for many people, and if you do it can be outrageously expensive. These ultra cheap printers are sometimes the best option for people. Anyone who buys or has one should also know that they don't have to make some HP account, download an app, or give them any info if they just need to print out a couple pages.

@mattias@toot.bike @jyrgenn@mas.to thanks for explaining! This is what I did. I connected to the Wi-Fi access point and then did a scan and found the IPP port. I forget which specific Linux application could make it work, but it took some fiddling and trial and error. I didn't feel like doing that again today so I just tried the USB port for laughs and it worked!
