Former developmental biologist, current application security consultant. I'm a big fan of FOSS, privacy, anonymity, and all things Unix-like. I daily drive Void Linux, OpenBSD, and FreeBSD for work and shenanigans. I'm learning Rust at the rate of a particularly slow potato as well.

@stardust@fosstodon.org The average person is someone who wants things as easy as possible and generally does what they see everyone around them doing. This has gotten worse as social media has become ubiquitous over the past decade. Change is difficult for most people, and most people will only change if they see everyone else doing it.....

@thelinuxcast In my experience, they respond with boilerplate that amounts to "We will act in your best interest, concerned citizen. We have the experts and we are doing the right thing.". We are being ruled by the most incompetent members of society, and they like Meta's money.

@starlabssystems@mastodon.social I saw that this was an option when setting up my StarFighter and did a bit of reading about it. My sources said that there are performance benefits of using this type of encryption when compared with traditional software encryption such as LUKS. It also meant that I didn't have to manually configure my FDE when installing Void, which I usually botch a few times before getting it right. It's definitely a solid option to have.
