Dangit. This "trying to be kinder to myself" thing is killing a lot of perfectly-good self-deprecating jokes. As well as some jokes that might be self-deprecating but I'm actually not sure if they are so I overthink them into oblivion.
And now I'm wondering if *that* counts, but I've already typed it out so screw it.
Ah, always a fun game to play: "AI slop, or just a generic art style and bad at hands?" I'm actually leaning towards today's contestant being the latter, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn some of these are draw-overs, either.
While I fully endorse the classic "don't worry about your awful first draft because nobody's going to see it anyways" writing advice, I admittedly don't find it as helpful because of how rarely anyone seems to notice my posted/published finals.
Resisting the urge to make self-deprecating jokes eventually becomes feeling guilty about thinking of them in the first place.
Because I keep forgetting to say it: Apologies if I've been hard to reach lately. I've had very little bandwidth for actual conversation, which shouldn't be a surprise if you've seen my recent blog post.
Fuck fuck fuck. I had a decent enough day, a minor but correctable setback aside, and I even dared to let myself go an hour or two without agonizing over the shit hand I've been playing the last couple of years. And then my computer spontaneously broke. Fucking wonderful.
Not much of one, but there's an update over on my blog.

I'm reaching the point where I might have to explain to a couple of people that I have enough trouble finding the time and energy to engage with friends I like, let alone annoying dickheads who demand attention out of boredom.
So I played a clip of an owl hooting for my roommate to give him an idea of what I heard for literally hours last night, and then afterwards the actual owl started hooting in the distance. I'm pretty sure it's a coincidence, but there's a part of me wondering if I accidentally got its attention.
I mean, I'm indoors and it sounds like it's a good distance away tonight, so odds are it was hooting before and I just didn't notice until I started thinking about it. But still.
