@Tijn @alienmelon This. Few games land that exact feeling of being helpless and alone as the state tries to crush you underfoot.
I love how the controls in LBA feel borderline unfair at times. There are other nice touches; sometimes if you talk to a normal-looking citizen they will rat you out to the fash, leading to a beating or a trip to jail.

- Sets ES:AX to *[DS:SI]. For a COM exe in DOSBox this resolves to AB48:04C4.
- Thanks to real mode, segment AB48 happens to include all of B800:0000 - B800:0FA0, AKA the text display buffer.
- The code loops through every 16-bit word in segment AB48
- AX is incremented by current word + the word 82 spaces behind (AKA one full horizontal screen row + 2)
- AX is divided by 4
- AX is decremented by 1
- AX is stored into ES:DI, DI is incremented by 2 Result: a moving, fading pattern

@simonomi Interesting! I'll have to try doing hexdumps with a full colour spectrum.
I did find it was a lot easier to scrub through unknown files after making a hexdump tool with defaults that worked for me (colours for 00/FF + ASCII range + everything else, symbol column using CP437). I also made a tool for byte histograms, which provides pretty good results for discerning compressed files from encrypted
