@shengokai@zirk.us This is driving me mad. So many BIPOC have been saying variations of this since Mastodon started. The sentiment has been there for years and would be apparent if you don't live in a very white bubble. This is not a new sentiment due to an influx of new users. And yet every. damn. time. it turns into a thread of "prove to me this isn't working for you" like racism hands out receipts.
Part of me misses having a reason to regularly leave the house but I could never go back to a position where I couldn't work from home. Plus I would miss amazing parenting moments like The Zergling running up to the door to my office, buck naked, carrying a white Bb soprano recorder, excitedly informing me that they were about to start playing. The call with the executive steering committee was infinitely more entertaining than usual with the dulcet sounds of a dying harp seal to speed it along.
