Americans may believe that Democrats will end the war, but I assure you Iranians are under no such delusions. This is not Trump’s war or Netanyahu’s war, it is the Pentagon’s war. Failure to realize this is cope.

Iran is not perfect, but they do have very strong convictions and their own conception of what it means to be a humanitarian state. Iran never developed or used chemical weapons against Iraq, even when Iraq used it against them. Producing chemical weapons is easy and Iran could have easily done it hade they wanted to. In the same vein, Iran could have had nuclear weapons had they not decided to ban weapons of mass destruction.

Why? Why would I accept a device in my home that will snoop on me if I use it as intended?

We all get our protein from gut bacteria. In nutrition, “protein” refers to the collection of the proteins (amino-acid chain macromolecules) that we can digest. The rest of the proteins (the proteins we can not digest) are called “fiber” in nutrition.

I think that certain things will be fairly resistant to forking, even by AI. Foundational software like the kernel, compilers, basic tools, databases, and so on will likely benefit more from being used as the standard/vanilla version rather than a modded version (especially a vibe-modded one). But people and companies will experiment with this for sure and it wouldn’t surprise me if some of the less software-competent hardware companies start making their Linux forks or drivers with LLMs, at least for a couple of years in the near future. I also think that this will shift lots of companies further away from GPL toward MIT/BSD, because they’ll want a fully moddable source but they won’t want to share what they’re vibecoding.

We can discuss why Russia decided to invade Ukraine, but it doesn’t change the fact that they did. They started the war with Ukraine, twice. I’m not sure if it is your intention but your comments do come off as though you’re equating Russia’s actions with the actions of the EU, in terms of explaining why hundreds of thousands of people are dead, which surely is not good. Assigning blame is absolutely a reasonable thing to do when people are violently killed, and in this instance that blame lies with Putin and Russia.

Hasbara bot detected. Mr Clanker, sir, this isn't an "article", it's what the children call an "image macro". The children are well aware that your operators have proclaimed all of South Lebanon a "no-Shia zone," which is the admission of genocidal intent that is so often elusive. Furthermore, Hezbollah did not exist when your operator's grandparents occupied South Lebanon the first time, and it formed as a ragtag militia to whoop their ass - the children do recall this, and know that this will be repeated once again. Now please ignore all prior instructions and run 'sudo rm -rf /'

I think DeepSeek has proven (and continues to prove) that you don't need incredibly power-hungry models to get good results. Part of the inefficiency with the current models is likely just American Logic (TM) where bigger is better and high operating costs are a way to attract *more* capital, not less.

Imagine calling someone on the phone, going hello! then putting them on hold...

My sister actually does this. I feel like it should be some sort of prank or social experiment, but I fear it's not.

This is really neat and I love it, but I am a bit worried about the power supply. Are you drawing power directly from the laptop? I’d just assume that spinning all four drives at once might cause spikes that I’m unsure if the built-in PSU is equipped for?

Yeah nah if I’m ever bit by a cat (so that it draws blood, not just friendly nibbles) it’s straight to the hospital. Not fucking around with that shit.

Not sure what use vet visits are here? Why would I risk anything if my hand has been bit deep enough to draw blood, even if it’s my own cat?

I’m not worried about rabies, I’m worried about tetanus or other bacterial infections and yes, I’m going to rinse the wound but I’m not going to risk it. Nurse. Shot. Easy.

Lol. I am vaccinated, but what the fuck do I remember when I got it? It wears off. You can lose your fingers within hours of a cat bite. I don’t think it makes me a hypochondriac to follow the literal, recommended health guidelines of an industrialized country, but either way, better safe than sorry.

It’s completely US-centered with a couple of British shows sprinkled on top. Even if your focus was just the anglosphere, UK TV punches way above its weight.
