Hey American #urbanists - what do you think of #Indianapolis? I’m finishing up a video and I want to hear about what people’s “starting place” is when they think about the city.
Sharing a couple of photos from the campaign trail for #NatashaForOhio - get involved at https://natashaforohio.com!
I set up an account on @loops - it seems nice but could use the ability to follow hashtags! @heartlandurbanist@loops.video
New video!
We love @OhTheUrbanity@mastodon.social’s car-free baby video. But what happens when you have three kids in a city that isn't Montreal? We break down the reality of urbanist family life—the gear, the challenges, etc. WATCH: https://urbanists.video/videos/watch/60bfe660-94fc-443b-a1dc-236666f76aa2

#NewVideo on the plans to expand #PassengerRail in the #Midwest, and especially #Ohio. Yeah, I’ve heard the skepticism and I understand it - but the momentum behind expanding #train service is unstoppable. https://urbanists.video/w/s8YEdbATRx1rc16xjG5hsY

That isn't to say there aren't challenges. The biggest are:
- the "biking black hole" during a baby's first year
- streets that are hostile to pedestrians (especially toddlers), and
- the lack of family-oriented #housing.
We've lived it, moving from #DC to #Columbus when we wanted to have a second kid and couldn't find a three bedroom apartment we could afford.
