Amazing to watch as the initial "what if” post from @mwichary led to your “I think I can make that" response, and now to have the app in my digital hands—in record time, no less! I'm genuinely flabbergasted.
Also love literally *everything* about fitsonafloppy.com. The design, the manifesto, the screen saver (such fond memories of flying toasters), everything.
I recently shouted from my very small rooftop about my Fujitsu (now Ricoh) ScanSnap's software weighing in at over a gigabyte. Wouldn't even fit on a damn CD-R, much less a floppy! 😭

According to the Wayback Machine, that was in May of 2014—our 100th episode, no less—in which we referred to Skala as coming “later this year." I've waited a dozen years, I can wait a dozen more! 😁

@gingerbeardman I have the ScanSnap set up to scan directly to Dropbox so I can scan without my Mac's involvement at all, but I need the ScanSnap app to configure that. Alas.
Maybe I should find myself an old Mac Mini on the cheap and set it up exclusively as a USB-connected ScanSnap server so I can banish the ScanSnap Home app forever!

By weird mathematical coincidence, John Ternus and Apple Inc. are both currently 50 years old. Given that Ternus joined the company in 2001, he's been there for half of *both* of their lives.
(Ternus apparently turns 51 next month, whereas Apple marked its 50th a few weeks ago, so the math ain't perfect… but still!)

@siracusa@mastodon.social Actual Mac Pro news aside, is it just my eyes or does seeing this photo on one’s phone and jiggling the device even a millimeter induce a parallax effect? An accidental optical illusion with Ternus appearing to move independently of the background like a “special scene.” I downloaded and inspected the image because at first I thought you’d posted a GIF that subtly jiggled, like 3 video frames looping.
