The European birds left wing does look totally different than the American left wing because they are 2 different birds. Left and right are subjectively to your current position. I know everyone wants a one world government with comparable parties in every location but we are a very long way away from that.

@punissuer@universeodon.com @QasimRashid@mastodon.social In France, where the terms originated, the left has been called "the party of movement" or liberal, and the right "the party of order" or conservative. Left wants to change things, right wants things to stay the same. That's the only definitions that matter. Assigning socialism to the left is a fallacy. Socialism is only left if it isn't apart of the current system. Moving left means moving towards New ways of doing things, it does NOT mean becoming socialist.

Centrists accept change, just want it real slow and in increments while slowly solidifying what already is. As an example, the left wants to bans guns, outeight, the right wants anyone to get a gun anytime they want, the center wants to regulate guns while still letting almost everyone get one. The left will always push the center for new regulation, the right pushes for things to be the way they were.

I think people have forgotten the meaning of liberal and conservative, for some reason thinking they mean Democrat and Republican. Trump was a conservative democrat his whole life, but the Democrats wouldn't nominate him for president so he became a liberal Republican.
