@iFixit I absolutely hate decomposing plastic or adhesive residues.
Nothing makes you appreciate metal enclosures like seeing what 10 years of UV degradation does to plastic.

Alright I'm just gonna say it and take my lashings.
I care far less about the sexual identity of the person writing the code, than I do about the quality of their work, and the integrity of the project.
Gnome contributors are constantly getting into political spats with other projects while gnome continues to lag behind other DEs in usability.
I made the decision to stop using gnome a year ago, and now I make the decision to unfollow the account.
@wendythedruid@thistlenfern.org@admiralwonderboat@mastodon.social This is true if you dont use it properly (Most people don't), AI can be a genuinely helpful coding tool, but the majority of people associate it with devs that try use it to wholly supplant their workflow rather than supplement it under careful supervision.
Unfortunately the second order effect of this is people grabing their pitchforks and torches the moment the words LLM are mentioned regardless of context.
@foobarry@mastodon.social@lwn@fedi.lwn.net For context:
"Because the embargo has now been broken, no patches or CVEs exist for these vulnerabilities. After consultation with the linux-distros@vs.openwall.org maintainers, and at the maintainers' request, I am publicly releasing this Dirty Frag document."
@itsfoss@mastodon.social I would love to one day see a world where GrapheneOS isn't openly hostile to other privacy ROMs.
Unfortunately so long as Micay is running things, I doubt that will happen.
@geerlingguy@mastodon.social@claudeai The entire tech industry has been corporate espionage, spite forks, and shit throwing since the 8088 was considered fast, and I'm sick of pretending it's not.
@protonprivacy@mastodon.social Why do we need Proton propaganda?
Is trying to sponsor every privacy/tech youtuber on the platform not enough?
Shouldn't your product sell itself on its own merit?
Why is what is ostensibly a pro-privacy video focusing on infiltrating domestic terror groups instead of average privacy use cases?
This company is starting to really make me doubt my routing my internet traffic through their servers.
It's walking like a duck, quacking like a duck, it just might be a duck.

And if we continue to capitulate to those people Linux will turn into MacOS or Windows.
If you keep the stock rom on and android phone its easy to use, if you flash an aftermarket one you may encounter issues.
The same is true for keeping OEM windows on your device vs using linux.
If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.
@itsfoss@mastodon.social Been running linux for all of my adult life, never once had an install corruption that wasn't directly my fault, one of many reasons to use stable release OSs like Debian.
@VinCep73@itsfoss This is the exact type of language that authoritarians and fascists use to eliminate dissent.
"Show me the OS and I'll find you the crime"
Are you really that worried about protecting the kids, or do you perhaps have ulterior motives?
@VinCep73@itsfoss I don't think there is a balance to be struck, the GOS foundation provides the user with software. It is up to the user to decide whether to use it for good or bad, and it is up to law enforcement to protect the public against threats to our society without infringing on the rights of innocent people.
The moment we start putting responsibility on to the developers of an OS to protect the public we shift liability as well, this is a deliberate move to kill libre software.
@DazRunner@itsfoss Right, all the constant ethics violations, consumer rights trampling, mass surveillance, anti right to repair practices, billions spent on lobbying against consumer interests, always just happens to perfectly coincide with the election cycle.
And I have a very lightly used bridge to sell you.
@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social
Just to be clear, is USB physically disconnected during both BFU and AFU locked states if set to "Charging only when locked"?
This is something I've always wondered.
@internetarchive@mastodon.archive.org
The problem with libraries is that they are frequently subject to ideological capture and censorship of works they find objectionable.
I don't want a centralized government subsidized knowledge base ran by busybodys who think it's their job to protect me from dangerous ideas.
@Axomamma@mastodon.online@internetarchive@mastodon.archive.org I get where you're coming from, but it's not like all the data is stored on VRAM. A loss of infrastructure doesnt destroy the archive, it just temporarily destroys your access to it.
If my data wiped everytime my rack lost mains power I'd be giving all my equipment away and living in the woods by now. 😅

Propaganda
Noun
"The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause."
