It truly is THAT bad.
I honestly recommend Web Savers out of Halifax, Web Hosting Canada, or CanSpace.
Lives in Alberta. Maritimer at heart. Writer. Suffers with chronic IBS.

There are those who talk, and there are those who take action, and make things happen.
My Path Toward Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID)
After years of severe, unpredictable chronic IBS, and exhausting every medical option, I’m finally taking control of my end-of-life choices.

It turns out that my good friend in Edmonton and his family can take Nala after all. I appreciate that it wasn't a simple decision for them and that they are taking it seriously.
Glad they are willing to cover the vet bill, and that I won't need to put her down.
Kind of last minute, but I finished writing my memoir today. Will self publish today or tomorrow.
The rest of my week will be focused on getting the house as ready as I can for Mom's return after I get MAID on Sunday.
Also chores, cleaning, and taking apart my home office, wiping hard drives, etc, and giving a few items to a good friend.
Just finished my last virtual counseling session with a lovely young lady in Calgary. I really won the luck of the draw with her, for lack of a better way to say it. She was wonderful, and I genuinely know, in my heart and soul, that she will do well in her chosen career. Wonderful conversations.
All caught up on #Landman. Season one, as per usual, was better.
Some great moments, and incredible acting and writing. Still no idea why the wife and daughter are part of the story.
Of course Sam Elliott steals every scene he is in.
Actually appreciated the intertwined love stories.
My memoir "If You Only Knew: Losing My Dad to Multiple System Atrophy - A Tale of Grief and Gratitude" is now on Amazon. A raw, unfiltered account of caregiving, loss, and the realities of terminal illness. Grounded in love, resilience, and hard-earned insight.
Just finished my last Zoom call with my MAID physician to go over final details before Wednesday.
Amazon approved my Windows 11 book. It's available NOW! It reflects 20+ years of hands-on support, focused on the settings and features that confuse people and slow them down. Clear steps to fix what gets in the way.
Submitted my memoir to Amazon for publishing. Up to 72 hours for approvals.
Will submit my Windows 11 setup book tomorrow.

Maybe at some point we will realize that underfunding education truly hurts us all.
These are the final weeks of my account on Mastodon. Obviously, I won't keep paying for it after I get MAID.
To see what I have posted on Bluesky, check the link in my bio.
IMHO it's a rather stunning achievement that Social Media companies convinced nearly every biz in the world to permanently put their logo on their branding, vehicle wraps, etc, for free marketing in the attempt to "connect" with customers, which was honestly never the point.
@NunavutBirder@mas.to yeah, I’m not sure what to make of it yet. Signed up. Certainly intriguing. Could be a FB replacement if they play their cards right. We shall see. Happy to be a paid pro user if the value is there.
But yeah…not federated.
After 22 years, Typepad is shutting down with one month's notice. Go back up your old blogs, old-school blogger friends.

Recorded a podcast episode today. A few delays, so more to talk about. I am just not used to talking for nearly two hours anymore. It's exhausting, even with a short break. We usually aim for an hour.
Super happy @markcherrington@mstdn.ca and I could get together and cover so much!
On indefinite Social Media hiatus as of 08/30/25. It's no longer worth spending time and energy on these sites.
I can be reached via my personal website.
@NunavutBirder@mas.to its visible. It’s clearly overkill for your needs. Perhaps micro.blog is worth looking at? Granted it’s not free.
Borrowed, but awesome:
I don't wanna party like it's 1999.
I wanna buy a house like it's 1999.
I keep hearing this week that flight attendants don’t get paid until the doors close. Not true. They get paid once the flight takes off. Any time spent on the tarmac is unpaid. A flight attendant told me this.

It's amazing how often people feel inclined to whine or complain about something.
Had a busy day? Be grateful your health allowed those events to take place, and that you're capable of doing that.
It's called privilege. Recognize it, because many don't have it.
Never Again: Why I Refuse to Carry the Burden of Caregiving
I was writing a book about how to survive family illness and Caregiving, but now I know I should have walked away. Here's why.

How about we all stop pretending that all plastic gets recycled?! We produce at a rate far exceeding what we could ever recycle. Up to 90% is either burned or dumped elsewhere.

Don’t use McAfee or Norton. Garbage cash grab bloatware that is mostly ineffective. Defender is built into Windows and it’s fine.

When the priority remains allowing off-road vehicles, then it’s not a priority to prevent wildfires.
Also, make the fines ridiculously high or it’s only illegal for those who can’t afford it.
Three years too late. Among many basic features still missing. At least @IceCubesApp@mastodon.online supports them.

Hell of a week. Had to push back my MAID procedure until next Wednesday.
A friend who is willing to cover Nala's vet bill is considering "adopting" her. Otherwise, I'll put her down.
Taking this weekend to set up one of my computers for a good friend, and will give him my iPhone in a few days.
Watched "Alien" and "Aliens" again this week after many years.
Alien will forever remain the classic and legendary. The sequel is a hack job and nearly forgettable. Some classic scenes to be sure. The focus should have always been on Ripley and Newt.
But Hollywood got involved.
If it comes down to giving billionaires control in order to do things in space, IMHO, we just need to call it quits now. It's not worth it. Imagine what $4B could do for those in poverty.
Made the shift today from covering Windows to now focusing on iPhone on my home business website, and doing YouTube Shorts.
Health and family challenges are forcing me to reduce my workload, and iPhone is a better fit.
This also allows me to escape the toxic mess Windows has become. I don’t enjoy it anymore.
My iPhone stuff is already getting traction.
